was looking for a little laptop(12-14" screen) but this seems a good price not worried about the medion brand as i had a medion pc years ago and it was top very good parts

but i dont know a lot about the Centrino chip it will be used to watch divx files and a bit of football manager will it cope with that?

also cant see any weights or sizes for it like i said did not really want a 15" because of lugging it around but this seems pretty good price(no shocks there always found this with medion stuff)

I think the only problem is buying at Aldi.

They only stock these laptops for a short while. Once they have gone they get no more in stock.

If something goes wrong then you have all sorts of trouble getting support.

I would avoid buying anything like this from Aldi (or Lidl or Netto or similar stores).

Pay a bit more and get a laptop from somewhere that MAY give you some support if it goes wrong.

again i would go to medion if i had a issue and they are very good with there customer service

so not a biggy

seen this http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.202-8787.aspx for simler money

thinking the aldi one still sounds good even the onboard graphics gets a very good write up and dont think i have found that on any laptop i have looked at so far cant find any write up on the tesco's one

The web site shows 3 year warranty, with a telephone no. -no idea if its collect and return though.

Why do they keep making laptops with no built in bluetooth?

Bluetooth is ok for ad hoc phone to phone and occasional PC comms but is frustratingly slow for full on data transfer. A USB cable connection is far superior for PC use:thumbsup: .

This will depend if they can diagnose and fix it on the spot.

From my personal experience the 3 year service support is as good as, if not better than anything on the market.:-D

Medion support is top class when I have delt with them, for pcs, laptops and pdas.

For what it's worth, I have a Medion PC . It is 2 yrs 7mths. old and is with
Medion for repair now. They collect and return, all under warranty.
Doesn't sound bad to me.

Im sure the experts on here will advise on the tech + and - but on first look this one has an extra years guarantee.

I just looked at Dell and you dont seem to be able to get the same spec for this price, and certainly not with the built in Freeview tuner. It still seems expensive but I havent found a cheaper one with core2 duo and 2 gig memory and 160 GB hard drive yet with a 3 year warranty.
I dont know whether to wait and hope or shell out £100 more than i wanted to for this!

I got this laptop from Aldi on sunday morning and have now had the opportunity to try it out. The laptop I think is let down by the screen which I can't seem to view comfortably no matter the light. It's a matt finish and always looks dull. I've tried increasing the brightness and tweaking the screen resolution but nothing helps. :-(

Anyone got a similar problem? Pls help otherwise it's going back. Does anyone think a gloss finish screen on a laptop would be better?

matt screens always do look dull when compared to the gloss ones.
