Bowling For Columbine: Michael Moore - Thorn in the side of corporate America, scourge of the political hypocrisy and all-round ass-kicker of those that need a boot in the behind...
With his trademark charm and biting wit, Michael Moore's documentary sets off on a rollicking journey to the heart of America, hoping to discover why the American pursuit of happiness is so riddled with massive amounts of violence and asks "Are we a nation of gun nuts.... or are we just nuts?"

Fahrenheit 9/11: Already the highest grossing documentary of all time in America (also breaking records in Europe and the UK) and winner of the prestigious Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004, Fahrenheit 9/11 is the powerful new film from Oscar-winning director Michael Moore. Following the huge critical and commercial success of Bowling For Columbine, Moore uses his characteristically deft humour and uniquely persistent style to launch an unflinching inquiry into the Bush administration's foreign policy.

Fahrenheit 9/11 is by turns determinedly truthful, scathingly funny, intensely thought-provoking and thoroughly entertaining. Combining rare footage, expert testimony and his one-of-a-kind dogged hunt for answers to tough questions, the film takes on the burning issues facing America today. Michael Moore turns a sceptical lens on President George W. Bush and his inner circle who ignored the Saudi connection to 9/11 and instead rushed headlong into war against Iraq...

Sicko: Sicko is the new documentary film by director Michael Moore.

It investigates the United States health care system with a focus on for-profit health insurance and the pharmaceutical industry. The film compares the U.S. health care system with that of Canada's single-payer system and other universal health care systems, including those in France, the United Kingdom and Cuba. The film has been criticized for not discussing the drawbacks of universal health care in these countries.

Yeah who but a socialist leftie would think the following where terrible - high school shootings, a war based on a lie and not being to afford basic healthcare...

Burn him alive LOL!

Agreed. If only Hollywood had freedom of expression rather than freedom of social manipulation by liberal halfwits that give genuine liberals a bad name. The only good thing about Moore is that he is so atrocious at political propaganda he makes himself entirely non-threatening.

Interesting films that aren't as biased as those above suggest, but not as honest as his fans would suggest.

Like anything should be taken with a pinch of salt. Great price though.

Ha!

He's made a fortune out of saying that the US should do things that the rest of the world tries to do, but the rest of the world doesn't do it very well anyway.

Sicko: The NHS is a dreadful drag on the economy - the ideal is wonderful but the delivery has got lost in a morass of self-interest and bureaucracy.

Bowling For Columbine: Gun control?? FFS it's getting really bad here and you can get stabbed or get the cr*p get kicked out of you in any town in this country. So in many ways, that's worse.

Fahrenheit 9/11: Well Bush is history and it would better to focus on how to get out of the shi*te than how we got into it.

Michael Moore is in it for Michael Moore:p

They aren't - otherwise the policies the US have held for the past decade wouldn't be in the process of being rewritten - see recent changes to medical care.

That would have nothing to do with Barack Obama then?

I didn't know Michael Moore was the President:p

They're biased, but they make some good points in an entertaining way. They shouldn't be treated as gospel, but that goes for any documentary or news report.

They certainly have added to the debate on each topic though.

I think some of the people posting in this thread could do with a bit more honesty on things like socialism though.

Duh...

Doesn't change the fact that Moore brought the ideas to the fore - not saying he's changed policy on his own, but merely the fact remains his arguments cannot be discredited out of hand like you've done, simply because you've jumped on the bandwagon.

The guy is a self-centered, ego-centric, self-publicising, mult-millionaire.

Don't try and paint him as some kind of a saviour-type figure.

If he gave all his money away to the causes he esposes then it would be a lot easier to be less cynical. Similarly, check out how much money Al Gore has made since he "discovered" Global warming!:whistling:

They ARE anti-capitalist. That's the easy one.

However, they're not opposed to self-enrichment in all its forms:whistling:

Who exactly are 'they'? Socialism is a fairly broad ideology with variations like any other ideology.

But if we're talking about Michael Moore and Al Gore, neither one is anti-capitalist. That's fairly obvious.

Oh Yeah?? Their arguments most certainly are anti-capitalist - that's fairly obvious, to use your own little phrase.

BTW, are you or have you ever been, a student?:p

I do read my own posts. The point is that socialism and environmentalism are quite broad spectrums with variations like any viewpoint. Some socialists will be more anti-capitalist than others.

Al Gore and Michael Moore are not anti-capitalist though. They preach more about responsible capitalism, but that is still free-market economics at the end of the day.

I was maybe a bit unfair - it isn't that obvious. It does require some thought.

Dearie me chaps, can we agree that Michael Moore is a very wealthy leftie, and agree to disagree about his other attributes? I can see we're not going to reach a consensus on him!

Yeah, but it wasn't compulsory to hang out in student union bars - smoking, drinking and otherwise ingesting “lifestyle-enhancing” substances in order to pontificate pseudo-intellectual cra*p, which would later be posted on HUKD!:p

That bit was optional, but highly recommended.
