Brilliant price for the 2 Disc version!

When I rewatch this film, I'm gonna watch the B&W version methinks.

It's a good movie but the ending is about the worst I have ever seen, it just leaves you feeling deflated and spoils all the good stuff that has gone before. They should re-shoot the ending to make it joyous and uplifting - I get enough despair in real life! Hard to recommend.

What a load of rubbish!

The ending was absolutely superb albeit heart breaking.

Highly recommend this movie, one of the best low budget movies I've ever seen.

Yes, a terrible movie. Have no idea why this flick made such a fuss.

Are you MAD!? This has possibly the best ending of any film for a long time. Don`t you see enough Hollywood films with happy endings!?

Exactly, I rolled around the floor trying to hold my sides together laughing.

It was a great ending but now that we have all talked about 'THE ENDING', I hope it doesn't spoil the surprise.

When I watched it I didn't know there was anything untoward.

It still makes me smile... :-D

Sorry but the ending was predictable - not a Stephen Kings best!

Yeah don't waste your money on this, rubbish film

Now the original Fog 1980

Shows you how it should be done

I prefer the book to the film but for Dark Tower fans it has a nice bit at the beginning. King has a habit of not doing endings well, I'll never forgive him for the hours I invested in his Golden Years which pretty much has no ending.

I put the Mist in a Blake's 7 ending bracket, there are those that can either take a bleak ending or not. I thought it was worth a watch and the religious nutter was very well played.

I'm sure the ending was happy in the original novella. I liked the film, thought it was one of the better King adaptions

Superb film. Not so great ending. But fantastic film. Tempted.
#13
excellent king adaptations: Kubrick's The Shining, Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, Carrie, Misery and (loosely, i guess) The Running Man

OK King adapts: It, The Green Mile, Cujo

Crap adapts: everything else. (especially the shining tv movie - ugh!)

The mist had promise, but it's flaws just outweigh it's successes unfortunately. And as has been said, the original adap of The Fog by john carpenter pulls off a similar premise much better, even if it is itself comepletely unrelated to it's source material.

Superb Movie!

Spoiler Alert:

Brilliant ending (I am sick and tired of Happy Hollywood ending - never interesting) - This movie is amazing!

Another engrossing 'it's crap/it's great' movie thread on HUKD.

You crazy guys you!
#16
Predictable ending but an ok movie.
#17
I enjoyed it, and thought the ending made the film stand out from the pack.

This film was class.... maybe you should of watched a blu ray version on a nice plasma with surround sound.

Get rid of your Betamax:thumbsup:

The ending was brilliant too... I highly recommend this movie!! But make sure you watch the latest version and not the original and see it on BLU RAY!!!:whistling:

I guess you like everything simple, nice and fluffy, eh?

it was predictable because bleak endings are all the rage in hollywood these days, frankly.

everyone dies is the new everyone lives happily ever after.

oh and bluray makes zero difference to the quality of a film.

if a film is crap, it's crap no matter how many pixels you're seeing it in.

The original The Fog is truely a masterpiece but this film was cool too. I think I enjoyed it because I'm a big Half-Life fan and I can imagine this film taking place in that world. While good old Gordan Freeman is sorting everything out this is what happens in the real world :)

HOT from me - the B&W version is perfect (its what Frank Darabont wanted in the 1st place) to really make it feel like the B movies its a homage to. And whether you love or hate the end at least its a risk - something you NEVER see these days in studio movies...

Anyway its not about if you like the film ot not, its if its a good deal - which at that price it is!!!!!

How was it not? I've seen many films and lots of TV and after a while they become predictable, especially the ones trying to be unpredictable or shocking. Although the book was written some time ago and if the ending in the book is the same as the film then perhaps it was less predictable back then. It's a satisfying ending but I saw it coming.

It's only a film...
