Love it or hate it, this version of the DVD at £2.99 is a great price.

Three-time Oscar®-nominee Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption) reunites with horror-master Stephen King to write and direct this chilling adaptation of the author's original short story, The Mist.

Following a violent thunderstorm, artist David Drayton and a small town community come under vicious attack from creatures prowling in a thick and unnatural mist. Local rumors point to an experiment called the 'The Arrowhead Project' conducted at a nearby top-secret military base, but questions as to the origins of the deadly vapor are secondary to the group's overall chances for survival.

You don't have to like it for the price to be good.

Only if you subscribe to Sky Movies - in which case you can watch it on TV anyway!

Got this the other week for £3.99 which I thought was a bargain so hot from me!
B&W really suits this B movie inspired film...
#6
I wish it had alternate endings. Then you pick your own.

Couldn't you just put the contrast all the way down on your telly?! :)
#8
Hated the movie... but nice price.
#9
Brilliant film, totally underrated.

Reminded me of the equally brilliant, and underrated - Silent Hill.
#10
Fantastic film, high production values, thought provoking and excellently executed scares.

HOT!
#11
Fantastic film? It was terrible!
#12
If they got rid of the bible bashers constant ranting then it would be 10 times better :-D
#13
What a crock of sh*t this film was.
#14
Saw this a couple of weeks ago - it's awful. Wooden acting, terrible cgi and effects and a storyline that shows that it's based on a short story (or novella if you like) that's been padded out to make a film.
#15
Terrible Film but what a ending, worth it for that alone!
#16
I actually quite enjoyed this movie.

Not a buyer for me but worth a punt if you have not seen it before.

Almost as cheap as renting it from Blockbusters!
#17
definately worth a viewing and i quite enjoyed it. real horrible ending though .... real horrible !
#18
I also quite enjoyed this film. Good price!

Errrr, they did..... they shot the female dog
#22
Couldn't of happened to a nicer person....although I would have done it an hour earlier! :-D I had to fast forward the monotonous rantings after a while!
#23
I thought it was a pretty good film :)
#24
I tell you what this film reminds me of. Have you all played Half Life or Half Life 2? It's similar to what I think a film version of that would be like. Gateway to parallel dimension opens up and every horrible creature comes pouring through. I was particular pleased when they escaped from the supermarket and they saw that massive creature that reached into the sky. I was blown away by that.

And that is exactly what the director Frank Darabont did with another Stephen Kin short story call Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption.....it did not too bad......along with Green Mile. Oh and Stand By Me was a SK short story also.

Not my idea for the ending but a good transfer to film none the less.

correct!

Good price, and a good film regardless of what people say. There have been several big budget films out the last few years which have been utter garbage, this is a very underrated film and a hidden gem of sorts which is more thought provoking and insightful, in parts shocking, and delivers a well written story that puts garbage/mindless spoon-fed movies like GI Joe, Transformers and Harry Pothead in the shade. ;-)

I remember paying 8.99 from Play last year and I would gladly pay that price again, so at this price it's a steal!!

And I agree I think I would have finished off that religious nutter off earler in the film, just on the grounds I can't stand Bible thumpers. :-D

Alternate endings suck. What it usually means is that the filmakers are pampering to public pressure from pre-release screenings (forget the proper name) in the USA and cobble together the one most idiots liked, and then we have to suffer the "hollywood ending."

I am so glad Frank Darabont has integrity and told the money-men to take a hike and stuck to King's original ending, refusing to film an alternate. Any different and this film would have been a let-down.

There's very little wooden acting, as you can see by the fact that the Bible-bashing woman gets on your nerves - that shows she plays the part very well indeed. The most wooden character I could see had only a few minutes screen time before being shown the (back) door - literally!

When I first viewed this film I did think it was poor compared to Shawshank, but most films are like that. The more I thought about this film afterward, the more I grew to like it.

Well worth the price, if only to add to Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile.

I guess from your "T*TS" avatar, the sort of films you prefer don't come with much of a plot, or require much thought? I wonder where your brains are located?

Glad you agree.

Terrible film!?!? I think many people need to reasses their film viewing criteria...Acting is great, directings top notch, pace and intrigue in the first half is spot on, CG is absolutely fine, yes the holy woman is very annoying, but you get satisfaction eventually! and its got a good point to make.

This film got 7.4 on imdb, 63,288 people thought it was awesome...i think the vast majority is a safer bet to judge the quality of this film.

"i think the vast majority is a safer bet to judge the quality of this film"

Alot of people buy Keane and Celine Dion records....doesn't mean they are right! ;-)

IMDB isnt the general public tho, its people who clearly have a passion for film as they have gone to the length of registering and voting, which gives them no personal benefit. I havent found an IMDB score thus far that ive disagreed with by more than 1 point.

It's a lot more accurate than a few nay sayers on HotandbotheredUKDEALS though isn't it?

Yeah, it annoys me somewhat when films which the vast majority of film fans love get slated on here with just one word, generic slanders without anything to back it up. Maybe because its not hollywood enough and too many seconds between action/love scenes.
#36
Aint that the truth!
#37
Very underrated film: very good film if you want to be horrified. Particularly if you don't like insects! Large ones! I'm glad the director stuck to the ending: who needs a happy ending in a horror film.

I paid £5-£6 for the single disk version, might buy it again for the two disks at this price, good deal!

what a film
