From legendary frightmaster Stephen King and Academy Award nominated director Frank Darabont comes one of the most tense and terrifying films since The Shining.

After a mysterious mist envelopes a small New England town, a group of locals trapped in a supermarket must battle a siege of other worldly creatures...and the fears that threaten to tear them apart. Starring Thomas Jane (The Punisher), and Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River), The Mist has been hailed by critics as one of the best horror films ever made, with an ending that continues to shock audiences the world over.

#4
Please dont buy this made for tv style film on blu-ray!!!!!
#5
Ending was a travesty. Read the book, it's better.

Films follows the book up until about 5 minutes before the end.

What's wrong with owning a great film on blu-ray? Didn't notice anything cheap about it, doesn't have the bloated budget of blockbusters to have perfect CG but it didn't make the film any less enjoyable.

Hot from me.

DONT READ ON IF U AINT WATCHED IT!!!!!!...

(if he had just 1 bullet left, why didnt he put heads together and pull the trigger..prat.)

Great film! Surprised me by how good it was.
#9
The ending is hilarious.
#10
It's really a homage to the 50's style films, there is a b&w option for viewing.

Also, loved the ending - a fate worse than death!

Didn't think it was too scary of a film. The ending was very sad though. If you haven't seen it I would say rent before yuo decide to buy, even though this is a good price it is a made-for-tv film so might not be upto everyones expectations. Just a heads up.

Because that would have made for a rubbish ending.

One of my top 50 films of all time!

Shockingly superb ending as well - albeit I would have liked a 'user friendly' ending....

I think the ending was just the creme topping for the movie.......

Cool avatar.

Endnig is typically Stephen King. The book maybe different but most of Kings endings are poor.
#16
Crap ending - make up your own.
#17
Rubbish film, typical Stephen King nonsense, but good deal for what it is I guess. Heat added, but don't waste your money buying this crud.
#18
excellnt film but why does everyone keep talking about the ending perhaps some people may not have watched it already.

agreed the only king ending i didn't find disappointing was storm of the century but they still had to ruin it a bit with crappy epilogue....

i like that theory it would have worked really well as a creature feature but they tried to make it much more and it didn't work..... reminded me of the tv remake of the andromeda strain but only in the made for tv way.

there's nothing wrong with owning a great film on blu-ray. but this doesnt even fall into that category. A great film? Gladiator is a great film, american beauty is a great film, gran torino is a great film, the great escape is a great film, the piano is a great film, ben hur, la haine, i can go on you'd really included it with them?

the production quality wasnt really the issue it was the quality of the writing and acting esp the MP's the other military personnel. I was also really annoyed that they just lifted THE line from JC's the fog
(THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE FOG!!!!! then of course the fact that the ending is pretty crud really.

I liked the religious zealot and themes explored therein but it was all a bit contrived. I wouldnt watch this film again and certainly wouldnt buy it even on dvd for 2 quid and i have HUNDREDS of dvd's. Which is a pretty good indication of whether its a worth-it-for-the-price purchase. I wouldnt say don't watch it because there are worse films, i just wouldn't get it on blu ray to own its not a repeat viewer. Thats my opinion anyways just adding to the discussion :)

That's fair enough for it to not be your particular taste (btw, i didn't like gran torino, slow buildup to a contrived ending chosen for its unpredictability) but most people will enjoy this film, as shown on this thread, so I would rate this deal hot for a good price and a high chance of enjoyment. It doesnt have to be in the top 20 classics of all time to be worth owning on blu-ray, and since it got 7.4 (out of 67,000+ votes, 38k rated 8 or above) on IMDB i'd say there's many people who would consider it a very good film at the least.
