The Nintendo Wii is coming, the obvious jokes are slowly receeding, and come December 8th quite a few of us will be waving our arms about like a maniac.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Wii Play (including Wiimote)

Activision
Call of Duty 3
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Tony's Hawk's Downhill Jam

EA
Madden NFL 07
Need For Speed Carbon

Midway
Happy Feet
Rampage: Total Destruction

Sega
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

System 3
Gottlieb Pinball Classics
Super Fruit Fall

THQ

Ubisoft
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
Far Cry: Vengeance
GT Pro Series
Monster 4x4: World Circuit
Open Season

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent

I am going to attempt (in the posts below) to show each game and its best price, and update from now till sometime after launch to allow ones easy place for Wii owners/preorder(ers)

Please post if you have found this post helpful or if you have found a better price.

I have one on pre order, but I'm probably going to cancel it, I didn't realise that it didn't have an ethernet port until about a week ago.
#4
how does it go online with it then?

Wireless or via an Ethernet adaptor due out in December.
#6
Thanks for waiting.. sorry it took so long.

Yes thats spot on wireless, via a wireless router etc... or cabled but with a network adaptor. Uses the same easy wireless setup as the nintendo ds does.
#7
these aren't the cheapest places though :|
#8
quick example:

Red Steel @ HMV = £32.99 - £5 Voucher = £27.99 - 11% Quidco (£3.08ish) = £24.91

All places are selling the games @ RRP of £32.99

These prices will not change until release, so to get the cheapest price find the best voucher.

HMV will be cheapest for ALL games using vouchers and a nice 11% quidco bonus

Thanks, will update to reflect this..

I think the RRP is £39.99, as it seems only hmv, and amazon are offering this price.. unless all the rest are overcharging.

I guess that's why the OP wrote "Please post if you have found this post helpful or if you have found a better price." ;-)

Just been informed by play.com that I won't get my pre-order on release day - I ordered within a few minutes of learning that they were taking pre-orders as well! Oh well, wasn't sure if I really wanted one for the kids or not, guess they can wait to see what thereviews are like once it has been released and played with by a wider cross-section of people to see if the games control mechanism works well.
#11
i think everywhere is selling at £32.99

all the online stores i tend to buy dvds/games from seem to be

EDIT:

List of retailers prices before the use of vouchers/cashback etc
Typical search comprised of Red Steel and Super Mario Galaxy to find average prices.

Choices UK £30.99
HMV £32.99
BlahDVD £32.99
Sendit £39.89
CD Wow £39.99

Play.com just emailed me telling me I'm not getting my console on launch day which is a total joke, because I was on their preorder website the minute it opened.

They blame lack of consoles in Europe, I blame lack of IQ at play.

Got the same email - Gutted!!!!:x ........... at first.

Read it again and all it says is that you won't get it on launch day - You may still get it in time for Christmas. I think it's just a generic email sent to all who have pre-ordered.

They say that they will supply on a 1st come basis - so I think we'll still get them as I also ordered pretty early.

I would not cancel your reservation just yet

Fingers crossed!

From play:
Dear Customer,

Due to a European shortage of the Nintendo Wii Consoles, we regret to inform you that Play.com will be unable to supply your pre-ordered Nintendo Wii at launch. As an Official distributor of Nintendo products we are guaranteed more stock before Christmas, but Nintendo have informed us, along with all other official Nintendo retailers, that the console will not be freely available until next year.

All pre-orders will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis and we will fulfil your order as soon as we can.

If you no longer wish to keep your pre-order with Play.com please login to your account and remove the item from your Outstanding Orders.

Kind Regards

Play have
Rampage: Total Destruction at £16.99

it is £32.99 or £39.99 elsewhere such as HMV.

I pre ordered it weeks ago at this price.

7/11 - Most games can be found at hmv.co.uk for £32.99, but combined with the hmv £5 off £30 voucher (Code : AN3714 expires 30/11) there prices come down to £27.99 (11% back with quidco aswell if you use it). Only able to be used once per account, so limited to one game at this price.

Remeber there are loads of different hmv £5 off £30 or £35 spend so hunt around and you may find a few to use!!!

You can pre order the Wii console at Currys at the moment for £161.99 (using the free delivery offer and the 10% discount codes) and 3% cashback @ Quidco, making it about £156.00,don't know if it's cheapest option, but an option.

#21
So they have. Luckily I got in a Zelda order last night. Many thanks to megamoo for starting this thread.
#22
Just updated Zelda and Cars which have both gone up £2 at HMV, and reduced the prices of the nunchuck and classic controller which have dropped to £11.99 each.

Thanks guys.

Looks like choice UK have bumped up the price for
wii play to 37 quid.

Was the orginal price a mistake and
will they honour it? (if you have already put in an order)

First post by the way - great site and thread!

Welcome to the forums spped_demon!

I doubt the price was a mistake but it was very good, compared to the remote on its own for £24.99 so £5 for the game. I guess if anyone got there order in they would get one at that price.
#25
Thanks for the Welcome.
I actually also found a 5 % voucher as well - so they are probably not to happy with me! £3.50 for the game

I did spot that last night, but couldnt seem to get it to work, but if it does work well.. makes choices prices beat hmv's here and there...

oh well back to the editing :giggle: :-D

We also need to order a RGB Scart or Component Cable.

Play had them for £14.99 but have now put it up to £20!

What is up with them Wii hating today or what.

however Amazon seem to have put down the price
to £14.99 - happy Days! (was £17 yesterday)

Unless anyone has found it cheaper!

Ok prices updated, and component cable added on.

Nice one!

Could you add RGB scart cable (for us old fashioned CRT people) will be much better than the composite cable that comes bundled.

Also will component not let you do 480p which is better on your HDTV than
480i ?

(if your display device supports progressive and Nintendo decide to support it on the pal model!)

Thanks again

choices have zelda at £38 now. does anybody else think hmv with the £5 of £30 (+quidco) is the best deal we're going to get?

and amazon aren't taking orders for wii play anymore!

ive never seen games for the wii cheaper than about £24 so far. so if you see something come to around that and you want it, make sure you snap it up before it gets changed!
#32
It does seem prices are slowly rising.. Zelda seems like the must have game (which i agree with) so i would imagine that might go right up to about £35 before launch.

Saying that.. it seems tesco.com will be stocking games at launch, and there prices are often v good.. so its a gamble.. of course you can always cancel before dispatch if a better offer comes up.

Added composite cable, and ammended prices on main posts

Don't forget the Wii points card - essential for the Virtual Console!. £19.99 RRP for 2000 points but PLAY.com have it for £17.99 (not looked elsewhere)...

Okay now I'm confused!!!

Movietyme are selling Wii games from £25.99 (admittedly they are not the most popular titles but some may enjoy them). These games have release dates in November so I'm guessing they will be imported (Ssshhh!! don't tell Sony (Lik Sang Joke Lol!)). Is the Wii region free???

P.S. Great work and excellent idea Megamoo Thanx

Oh and the link for Movietyme - http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=342

Very confusing indeed. Im pretty certain the titles on Movietyme are american version (NTSC), which launches next thursday. It appears the Wii is region coded so only PAL games will work on UK machines.

http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/732/732982p1.html
equally many places say that is is region free, but it appears nintendo UK say it isnt. **confusing!!

Just got this from Amazon

Get ready for a revolution in video gaming--Nintendo Wii is coming!
If you're into gaming as much as we are, then December 8, 2006 will no doubt be etched into your brain as the day that Nintendo launches their Wii console in the UK.

Well, we've got another date for you: Tuesday, November 21, 2006. This is the day Amazon.co.uk will start taking pre-orders for the Wii .

We've put together an FAQ to answer any questions you may have about pre-ordering your Nintendo Wii from Amazon.co.uk.

When will I be able to pre-order my Wii console?

From Tuesday, November 21, 2006. Order early, because the Wii console will be in very short supply.

We're working closely with Nintendo to maximise the number of consoles we'll have for launch, and will stop taking preorders once we've pre-sold all the consoles Nintendo allocate to us for release day. We won't take pre-orders for more consoles than we can supply for launch day.

If I pre-order a Wii from Amazon.co.uk, will I get it on launch day (December 8, 2006)?

UK customers: if you choose First Class delivery, your console should be dispatched in time for delivery on December 8. We will work closely with our delivery partners to ensure, as far as possible, delivery by December 8. However, this cannot be guaranteed as some delays may occur which are outside our control.

If you choose Free Super Saver Delivery, your console will be delivered 2-5 business days later than December 8.

International customers: we will work closely with our delivery partners to ensure, as far as possible, delivery by December 8. However, this cannot be guaranteed as some delays may occur which are outside our control.

Please note that a signature will be required for delivery of your Wii.

What can I do to ensure I get my Wii as quickly as possible?

Please check that your credit/debit card details are correct and up to date and that your card doesn't expire before December 2006, as we only charge your card when we start shipping your items.

How many Wii consoles can I order?

We're limiting orders to one per customer to ensure that as many of our customers as possible can enjoy a Wii console this Christmas.

What happens when Amazon.co.uk sell out?

We'll stop taking preorders once we've sold out of our pre-order stock. If you're not lucky enough to get hold of a Wii in our initial pre-order window, sign up to receive email notification of when the console becomes available again by using the button on the top right of the Nintendo Wii product detail page. We'll email you when we get more stock in.

I've ordered Wii games and accessories too - when will these arrive?

Wii games and accessories will be dispatched separately from the console. Most launch titles should also be dispatched in time for delivery on December 8. Please check the estimated delivery date on the order summary page for any games and accessories ordered, and check that you have selected the appropriate shipping option - make sure your order doesn’t contain any items which are not in stock or which are released after December 8, 2006 (you can change your delivery preferences to have items dispatched as they become available). See the Wii launch line-up.

Looks like HMV have put all the Wii games up to £34.99. So i'm not happy because I was very close to ordering a load when the 20% discount was available, oh well.
#40
powerplay direct have wii play (including remote) for £29.99, using the £1 voucher must make this the cheapest place to get it now.

does anyone know if the launch games will be freely available from internet retailers - will they all have launch day stock? e.g. choices direct and powerplay direct aren't the biggest names.
