Petty behaviour. Zero productivity. All in a day's work.

Ricky Gervais' critically acclaimed and multi-award winning The Office is taken across the pond. This unique comedy series offers a smart, tongue-in-cheek documentary-style look at the humorous, and sometimes poignant, banality of the 9-to-5 white-collar work world.

Golden Globe winner Steve Carell (The 40-Year Old Virgin) stars as unctuous regional manager Michael Scott who hosts the documentary crew on a tour of the workplace. Jenna Fischer (Walk Hard), John Krasinski (Jarhead, Kinsey), Rainn Wilson (Six Feet Under), and B.J. Novak (Punk'd) star as the employees who tolerate Michael's inappropriate behavior only because he signs their paychecks.

I got the American first series a few weeks ago and watched about 10 minutes recently and found it to be just an inferior remake of the British version.

The guy that plays Ricky Gervais just acts a complete idiot.

Sorry, I just didn't find the American version funny.

The first season is (mostly) a remake of epsiodes from the UK version, but not as good. It gets waaaay better from season 2 onwards.

::shock:
Season 1 is a poor remake of the UK, the following seasons are great, simply the best comedy on TV at the moment. Plus you don't get a pathetic 6 episode series like most UK comedies get.

51 episodes in this boxset (plus lots of deleted scenes), 35p per episode isn't bad.

Bypass the first season and skip to season 2.
Season One is a remake of UK Office.

Later seasons is where this version comes into its own.

The sixth season will premiere Thursday, September 17, 2009.

This series is even funnier (although not essential) if you work in an office environment!

you really do have to seperate the fact that this is related to the uk office, get pass the first series and it becomes its own, i used to hate it, but i slowly grew on me and i now think its probably one of the best comedy series ive ever seen.... so many great characters, michael scott, dwight shrute and the narddog!!!

Get past the first series and this is AWESOME, and those that keep going on about the original office, THIS IS NOTHING LIKE IT AFTER THE FIRST SERIES!

Easily one of the best things on TV,

Ah! I didn't realise that. Thanks for the info SenselessThing. I'll see if I can get to see some of the later editions somewhere.

Don't base your thoughts on the first series - its just a remake of the British version, by series 2 they make it in their own way. It's brilliant

Wasn't the basketball one in the first season? That one was pretty good.
