The Orange Box's 5 games are:

Half-Life 2 - An FPS, regarded by some as the best game ever created
HL2: Episode One - the continuation of HL2
HL2: Episode Two - the continuation of HL2: Episode One
Portal - A Brilliantly fun, and inovative FPS Puzzle game
Team Fortress 2 - A cartoony and funny online multiplayer FPS

You also get 2 extras, which you can download from Steam for free after The Orange Box is installed:

HL2: Lost Coast - an extra level for HL2
Peggle Extreme - a Orange Box themed version of the classic PopCap game Peggle Deluxe

If you are a gamer, this is too much of a good deal to pass up.

*WARNING* this game requires Steam. It's hard to explain exactly what steam is, so look it up if you don't know.

Worth it for Portal

Quoted for the truth.

I would pay this for Portal alone, even if it is a short game.

The fact that you get Half Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2 (Absolutely fantastic single player games) as well as Team Fortress (one of the best multiplayer games on the 360) is unbelievable!

team fortress 2 is quite possibly the best multiplayer game I have EVER played....

worth the £23.98 on its own, when you factor in Portal (fantastic), this is an AWESOME deal...

heat + repped,

Thanks guys!
I was in awe when i first heard about the orange box, but that was nothing compared to seeing it for £24! Taking into account that each game retails for around £15 - 20 each, this is the best games deal I've ever seen! Plus the modding potential with the source engine is limitless! Annoyingly (major understatement) i can't buy it until 3rd june, when my AS exams finish :(

Yea worth it for Team Fortress 2. Best online fps I've ever played.
I'd get the PC version though as there are regular updates for bug fixes, exploit fixes and new maps etc.

There's an excellent map pack for Portal here which is almost as long as the original game.

Team Fortress 2. One of the Best online fps
I'd get the Xbox 360 version though as the PC version has so many cheats (wallhacks etc (Not exploits)) on there it makes it almost pointless playing it online. Something you don't have to worry about on the 360 .....

May be worth noting that if you already have steam, you can d/l it directly for $39.99 (works out a few pence over £20 with todays conversion).

A great find though

Not sure I totally agree with this.

You are right that there are cheats, as well as exploits, a lot were plugged in the GoldRush/Medic update, and regardless whethere they were plugged or not, if yoiu play on a reasonably well administered and properly controlled server, it really shouldn't be an issue. Certainly isn't where I play IMHO

They don't have the same regular updates.
Does the 360 version have the Badlands or Gold Rush maps? Or any of the new medic achievements?
If it does then it might be ok to get but I still prefer the speed and precision of a mouse for first person shooters.
#23
If poss, hold fire on the Orange Box for the PC, it goes down to £14-15 on games sites often. A few weeks ago it was that price on thehut.

Completely agree: mouse + keyboard > controlers. Another thing is there are mods on PC, and the endless fun that can be had with more maps for portal.

Also you get a hard copy, which comes with the ability to uninstall / install. opposed to downloading 10 gigs and keeping it on your hard drive.

But can't you use a keyboard and mouse with the 360 using the USB ports?

VAC (Steam's anti-cheat system) does a pretty good job of stopping hacks from being used. Exploits are in common use, but Valve seem to launch another patch every week or 2 for the PC version :)

Great deal for the 360 game, not so good for the PC one though (it's been available as low as £16)

Same old problems with Live, i.e. lots of lag :(

The real question is how much will 360 owners be paying for it? It's free on PC, but most likely won't be on 360 because Microsoft will charge Valve for the distribution

re keyboard and mouse vs pad.

i agree keyboard and mouse is more effective, with its turn on a 6pence in a split second etc, however in a way its tantermount to cheating, the limitations of a pad force you to play the game more realistically imo.

one thing i get sick of playing pc fpsers online is people randomly hopping about all over the place etc (am sure its not a standard sas tactic ;)

on top of that, as long as everyone is playing on a pad, its all a level playing field as well. cant argue about the maps mind you, and graphically with the right pc its going to look a little better at suiper high res/AA.

You should have a clicky 'You have a voucher' link next to the control panel at the top of your screen. If not, then you have not earned one yet.
