Blu Ray - Next best £32.95 at Base, then £33.85 at The Hut etc - so seems a good deal

DVD Set £26.85 at Zavvi (cheaper with Walkeers code)

From the producers of Band of Brothers, The Pacific tracks the real-life journeys of three U.S. Marines--Robert Leckie (James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and John Basilone (Jon Seda)--across the vast canvas of the Pacific Theatre during World War II. The extraordinary experiences of these men and their fellow Marines take them from the first clash with the Japanese in the haunted jungles of Guadalcanal, through the impenetrable rain forests of Cape Gloucester, across the blasted coral strongholds of Peleliu, up the black sand terraces of Iwo Jima, through the killing fields of Okinawa, to the triumphant, yet uneasy, return home after V-J Day.

I was/am a huge fan of the original BoB but i cant put my finger on why this wasn't a patch on it , I still really really enjoyed it but perhaps it was the 8 years of anticipation of a follow up that it perhaps was on a hiding to nothing whereas BoB just came out of nowhere and was the best TV war series since Das Boot .

great price for release, although, got a feeling this may dip to the £15 after christmas

In my opinion it is nowhere near as good as Band of Brothers, which is also much cheaper, however still a good series in its own right and a good release price for it, although I agree with John - probably a fair bit cheaper in a few months if you can wait.

Agreed it was a big let down hence its price I would say as the original BOB series was £50+ for ages.

Its a shame really.

I loved BoB but really didnt enjoy this, almost had to force myself to watch the last few episodes as I felt once I'd watched most of them I may as well finish, but was very bored.

I think this is supposed to be £29.99 in Sainsburys this morning - in case any one was in a rush to pick it up.

agree with people on how its not the same as BOB. I never felt attached to the soldiers, where as BOB I did. Also I think the setting did not work as well, it looked dire, the islands, all rocks and that. whereas BOB, we had them in villages, the forests, fields, tactical fighting, The Pacific the Japs ran out in the hundreds and got mowed down. No matter how well you shoot it, to me its not exciting to watch. I know it was the way it happened. The Australia episode for example, what was all that about? a waste of a episode in my eyes, they could have just mentioned it or shown some but not a hour devoted to it. I will buy this and maybe watching it again the 2nd time I will appreciate it better, I did enjoy it. But to me BOB is the best TV ever made, and I watch it at least once a year.

Wouldn't touch it for free as BOB's is way out there on it's own as the best war film/series ever and this is awful and you can't get to know the characters as you can in BOB's.I would give this 2/10 whereas BOB's would get 15/10.Ice cold deal from me.

Shame it wasn't linked up properly or this would have shown as a duplicate. Next time link the item not just the site.

I have a 10% discount code for zavvi, wouldn't want it to go to waste. If you want it just send me a message.

**** IF ANYONE HAS BOUGHT THIS FROM BLOCKBUSTERS ****

Is it the TIN version please?

Sainsburys only have the normal one. My local Tesco has the tin one, but priced at £32.

I've emailed Blockbusters, but no response [no stores over here]

Thanks

Turns out it doesn't matter anyway.

They no longer deliver to N Ireland.

[nobody told me, and I've bought BR players and BR's off them in the past. Grrr!]
