Mel Gibson's controversial depiction of the final hours and subsequent crucifixion of Jesus. Filmed using original elements of Aramaic, Latin and Hebrew languages, The Passion Of The Christ is by turns spiritually uplifting, historically contentious and narratively horrifying but remains essential viewing.

An emotional epic which deeply moved audiences worldwide regardless of their faith or beliefs, The Passion Of The Christ is a dramatic film which everyone should see and experience for themselves.

Special Features
15 minutes of new, seamlessly branched footage
Filmmaker commentary - Stephen McEveety (producer), Ted Rae (Second Unit Director, Keith Vanderlaan (make-up effects)
Theologian commentary: Mel Gibson, Father William J Fulco, Gerry Matatics, Father John Bartunek
Two documentaries - one on the making of the film, the second on its impact

It did move people, regardless of your attitude towards it. Sure it was violent, but in fairness, it was a new take, and it gave people alot more of an insight into how Jesus died, rather than the usual films which shows a dude hopping up etc.

Jesus suffered a hell of a lot and the film was Gibson's way of getting that across.

Its a marmitey sort of thing, but I know a muslim who converted to Christianity partially because of this film. (he watched film, did some reading of the Gospels and converted).

I wouldn't like to be your friend, don't they give you a good stoning for that..converting.

Anyway this is Mel Gibson's biggest anti semitic rant ever, used to like the guy Mad MAx etc but then he slowly started swallowing himself up his own a hole with his anti English and Anti Jew films. South Park depicted him the right way!!:whistling:

Yes, a new take on a pre-modern narrative about 'god', a story that millions of deluded people still cling to. We don't need any more 'insights' into so-called prophets and sons of god. In fact, we should be trying our best to get beyond such primitive thinking, and I resent Gibson's efforts to keep this fairy-tale alive. And your own little narrative about the 'conversion' shows that this kind of stupid propaganda still works!

Everyone is entitled to their differing beliefs/faiths. I don't believe any of it or in anything religious, but it was still quite an entertaining film.

Peace.

I saw this film at the cinema and people were walking out after an hour & half or so.
The torture and barbarity is endless, it just goes on and on and on and on..... Its gets to the point where you think ENOUGH ALREADY.

Like the new avatar. Love that film. Class.

Regarding The Passion, I actually quite liked it. I aint religious, but I like my "history" films. This is different to any that I'd seen before.

What's worse than a religious person pushing their beliefs on to someone else? An atheist who tries to force their non-beliefs on to others as soon as someone finds a deal for a DVD with a religious theme!

Also, as for the barbarity, the film simply depicts how it really would have been. Any more "toning down" of the "gore" would have been too timid for the reality of the situation.

Actually they're both the same - but at least the atheist won't use annoyingly **** arguments :)...

You don't know that and Mel Gibson sure as **** doesn't know that :)

How anyone could find this film 'entertaining' is truely beyond me - it's a guilt-fetish/jew-baiting diatribe from a man who is batshit-****ing-mental (so mental he believes his wife, although a good catholic, will goto hell because she's not good enough for HIS church).

I'd really rather people didn't encourage looneys like Mel Gibson frankly...

Having been to the cinema to watch it, it is not something that I would like to watch again. Personally, I think MG done a great job with it, and I don't think saying that the Jews killed Jesus is Anti-semetic. The truth hurts. Well, hurts those that don't know the truth... Without getting involved in any petty, pointless arguments, I will stick to the task in hand...Good find, good price, HOT from me

Good post. The torture and execution of Jesus was definitely not anti-semetic. The high priests and Pharisees condemned him for the charge of blasphemy after Jesus claimed to be God. That was the reason he was executed. It's a ridiculous generalisation to say what happened to Jesus is anti-Jewish.

Oh and good price btw, heat added

Why? What makes it worse exactly?

Hypothetically speaking - there are no facts here, just beliefs.

DVD.co.uk are brilliant  I ordered this and within half an hour I had a email from them to say that the item has been despatched. Soooo much better than the likes of Sendit and The Hut!

Personally I'm happy to read all opinions what ever they may be, I've never seen this film before and it's because of opinions I have read/heard that I'm really eagar to watch the film.
