I love this film, more importantly so does my son! This is the 3D version & comes with 4 pairs of 3D glasses.

great deal... heat added

Heat added as I have it, the 3D disc has some impressive effects but generally just hurts your eyes - it's very difficult to watch and I bet you'll watch it once only. Well worth it for the 'standard' blu ray though.

Is this old-fashioned red/blue glasses 3D? Or some kind of hybrid between the new cinema 3D and the old-fashioned system?
#5
Sadly the standard red/blue.
#6
Yeah, but we found it worked well and enjoyed it a lot. There's life in the old Red and Blue system yet!

Paid £11.98 from Amazon at Christmas, so £8.95 is excellent!

I'd be interested in knowing the answer to this too before I buy. The kids love it so would be great if the 3D works just as well with LCD TV's.

Well I can't comment on CRT, we watched it on an LCD and as stated earlier, it was pretty poor. In some scenes they do appear to have worked very hard - snowflakes look like they are blowing from the telly into your room, and some scenes really look like the train is going to crash through your screen - but the impression I was left with was that this is perhaps expensive or difficult to do so was kept to a few showpiece bits. In the main, there is difficult to ignore red/green ghosting and some 3D parts that simply don't work. After watching that for over an hour you really feel knackered and strained.

I still say it's a hot deal, and for the good 3D scenes mentioned you really should experience it, but honestly I think you would watch the standard non-3D blu-ray version every time after that.
