I thought the Jim Caviezel version recently started off OK, then tried to explain what was happening too much. The whole point of the original series is that there were no explanations. You just had to accept it for what it was. Bizarre, but ground breaking and enjoyable.

The transfer on this is stunning cos they went back to the original negatives, like watching a new show that is set in the 60s, thats how good it is.

Better than the original Carlton DVDs, sure. I assume the difference between Network's new, remastered Blu-Ray and DVD sets is the same as you'd expect from any new release.

The excellent DVD Beaver site has a review of the Blu-Ray with some full-size screenshots which should give an idea of just how good a job they've done of remastering the series.

Hot deal , Fathers day pressie sorted.

Hot. That link to dvdbeaver shows how amazing the transfer is ... as IF something that's almost 50 years old could transfer to bluray so well.

This alone makes me want to upgrade to bluray!

Anything filmed well on 35 mm film will transfer well onto blu, look at Dambusters on that site. And blu still can't show half the quality of the original print...
