The Remembrance Day Poppy Coin £7.95 @ The Royal Mint

Following on from the Buckley Poppy, just another way of donating to the worthy charity RBL and obtain this commerative coin. Nice design front and back. I have ordered 50 to sell on Ebay for £150 each.

For Remembrance Day 2010, The Royal Mint has struck a new Remembrance Medal; one side shows the famous Remembrance poppy with the important time and date while the other shows a hand dropping a gun surrounded by falling poppies. This design represents both the laying down of arms and the iconic poppy drop during the two minutes silence at the Festival of Remembrance in the Royal Albert Hall.

The medal – an everlasting tribute to our war veterans and those who sacrificed their lives in war – comes in a specially designed Remembrance Gift Card and 50p from every medal sold will be donated to the Royal British Legion.

there is another link on the site that you can post a memorial message - do this and the charity gets a further £1.00

Not seen the Buckley Poppies thread until now and I have no interest in Numismatists hence you can understand why one would have taken your description at face value.

The cold votes suggest others may feel the same - perhaps add a smiley face to show that you were joking. I do not think that it meets the definition of 'irony' but what do I know.

Well it looks like it's you as when I said I was going to buy 50 and stick them on Ebay for £150 I was being ironic (as you say "showing that I really meant the opposite of what I was saying")- feigning ignorance to the fact that so many people have been disgusted by Ebayers selling the £9.99 Buckley Poppy for £100 +

For clarity - if you like the commerative coin buy it for £5 plus delivery. 50p goes to charity plus if you leave a memorial message on the web link I mentioned a further £1 is donated. Quite rightly, if you don't want the coin and want to donate then do - it's a free world (thanks largely to our Armed Forces past and present who I like to support!)

Actually, you are TRYING to be ironic.

The overwhelming response suggests you have failed to communicate any intended irony.
