Also known as The Christopher Lee Edition.

The part where Gandalf got owned by the Witch King (not included in theatrical release) baffled me somewhat, as it's just incomprehensible that it could happen... I think Jackson changed things for the worse in many areas. Saruman's death was also strange (and at odds with the book). I understand that compromises have to be made, but when you start making it up and it's markedly worse than the original story...:whistling:

I do quite fancy buying the extended editions of the earlier films, though, as they are quite entertaining.

i bought the extended box sets when they came out (ones with the free figurines) - paid about £50 back then, thought it was worth it :), love these movies and the ext editions are defo the ones to watch. try watching all 3 back to back though!

dvd has decent content, i enjoyed the commentaries.

wonder if this will come out on blu ray.....

you betcha

as single disc editions
to be followed by double disc multi extras versions

then extended versions

then extended version with tons of extras

then extended versions with new footage and 10 mins of unseen extras

and then a fancy box set that looks so good you just have to have it.

oh, and then they'll be tellign is 'blu ray, poor quality picture, why not upgrade to super mega defination power pink ray scratch free jump free jitter free gen-10-digital cartridge.

but you'll only get the cinematic versions in that format, for the 1st year at least!.

if I was you, I'd wait for the 3d - any angle watch in the middle of your room format!!

And then they will double the price of them all, and give away "free" characters with them.
