The Genius Of Charles Darwin: Dawkins on Darwin celebrates the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution and shows how evidence supporting the theory of evolution has been accumulated by scientists ever since Darwin's stunning discovery. In addition to explaining Darwin's ideas, Dawkins also shows how the intellectual journey undertaken by Darwin led inevitably to an atheistic world view. For, once nature could be explained by the theory of evolution, it simply wasn't necessary to continue with the idea that God was responsible for all Creation.

The Enemies Of Reason: Richard Dawkins looks at how health has become a battleground between reason and superstition. A third of us now spend a total of over 1.6 billion a year on superstitious alternative remedies, but 80% of them have never been subjected to properly conducted trials.

Root Of All Evil?: Nine months before the release of his million-copy bestseller The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins had the world buzzing with his television documentary Root of All Evil? The 2-hour program highlights the dangers of faith and religion in the 21st century, and asks people of reason to say "Enough is enough!"

Thank god for Richard Dawkins and Charles Darwin.

Surely religion has had it's day.

But I suppose as long as there are stupid, gullible people around there will be people wanting to exploit them...

Absolutely, Dawkins and others are to be congratulated for having the courage to speak out and express what alot of people THINK but are too afraid to say.

The thing that never ceases to amaze me is the number of religious types that are actually very intelligent people! :?
This makes their views/beliefs/blind faith even more puzzling when you think about it??!!

I agree.
I'm ashamed to say that as soon as I realise someone is religious, I judge them to be extremely stupid. Maybe quite intelligent but because they believe in such nonsense, they're stupid.
Shame, because most are brainwashed from a young age. But if they could find the time to read books like these they could see the light.
Rep added.

If people think that religion is cobblers, why do you assert that they're afraid to say so and thus need someone else to articulate their doubts while they hide. Perhaps they're hedging their bets just in case?:whistling:

If you have a God and a religion then have it and if you don't then don't.

Why you'd feel the need to buy a DVD boxset to have someone tell you that something doesn't exist when the existence of that something cannot be proven either way is beyond me.

All you're doing is making this bloke wealthy. Perhaps it's simply that wealth is Dawkins' God:p

Heat for the deal Jezz; not a product I want, but it's a decent price. There seems to be a few drunk cold voters out tonight. Everything posted in the last few hours has dropped down loads in the last hour.

Oh come on!

It's not that people are pi$$ed and thus vote the thing cold. (Pi$$ed-off maybe but that's a different matter!)

It's just a cra*ppy boxset. At £18 it's over-priced; particularly in the current state of the economy - which was caused by humans by the way.

God is far too smart to have fecked things up this badly!:p

No, I watched them all too recently to be buying the DVD's. I just bought "The Attenborough Complete Life Collection" so it's not like I'm short of things to watch.

Oh and I suppose this (:whistling:) is obligatory...

It has been four years and three months since I last read a thread showcasing such stupid posts as the first five in this one.

It's made me laugh, as Dawkins often does. So thanks for your arrogance.

No it's not a good deal.

It's three old TV documentaries that cost very little to make, on two DVDs that also cost very little to make.

A fiver is the most you should consider paying for this load of old re-hashed TV documentaries.

As you said, you've already seen it but can't be ar*sed to buy it and watch it again so why should anyone being asked to pay £18 for the privilege of a one-off view thus constitute it to be a "Hot Deal".?

N.B.

NO EMOTICONS:thumbsup:

(apart from that one:p)

(and that one:p)

Considering that you can pay more and get the Planet Earth boxset - one everyone should own - on DVD for less than this, and the Blu-ray version for £7 more, how is this any kind of hot deal? Same price on Play too.

Seems someone just wanted to go fishing. Some forums just shut down talk about politics or religion. Perhaps this is just a way around that; scratching a Dawkins itch.

Whenever I give an opinion such as yours on anything, I'm shot down by mods and other such high ranking fellows telling me that you MUST vote a deal hot if it's the cheapest around. Is it cheaper anywhere else? If so than you are correct. Also; for the people not fortunate enough to be enlightened yet, it might well end up cheaper than the petrol getting them to church every week.:p

And are you also saying that you can't vote on a deal unless you purchase it? I'm not buying it because I can't afford it; I'm a student for god's sake (hehe, 'god's sake').

Anyway, I care not for your opinion; goodnight.

possibly, but at least he doesnt shout "praise the lord, and give me ya money!"

he's as fanatical as your average religious person. It's all just witterings of people believing that their way of thinking is better than other peoples.

basic peacocking from both sides. but his shows are amusing, especially the one where he visits a lady who "re-arranges his DNA" apparently he had only "3 out of the 4 triangles" so she rearranged it back to 4 triangles for him.

i wonder what that looks like as an x-ray diffraction pattern.

People are afraid to speak out because of how the PC, Religious world react when they are told they are blindly following a book written thousands of years ago that science has basically disproved on almost every level!

This Boxset is informative and brilliantly put together, noone should NEED this to open their eyes. In fact, if anyone has always blindly followed somthing they were told as a child, this will make no difference to them at all.

I suspect it's truth, proof and scientific fact that drives him on more than anything.

Religion came about at a time when man had no idea about the Universe or where we'd come from.
We now know much of this, not all of course but at least about how old the earth is and where we basically came from.
The fact that people continue to believe what is written in the book of their particular born into Religion is astonishing!!!!

He's a bit of an embarassment now.

I have this - well worth watching, and more than once to get a better understanding of the arguments.

I'm fairly sure I paid £14.99 though - I'll try and dig out the email confirmation to find where. It was before xmas and may have been a deal of the day or something...

EDIT: erm... scrap that, I was wrong about the price I paid. Voted hot!

why are some people so pedantic? this is a good deal because its cheaper than other places. doesnt mean to say its worth the price; its just CHEAPER for anyone that wants to buy it.
also, some people are saying that dawkins is right, others think hes wrong; i for one think its a bit of both science is NEVER actually right, its just improving the steps towards the final answer to each problem. i am a microbiologist so have extensive knowledge of the theory of life and to be honest, no scientist has a clue how the earth evolved- the big bang? What caused such an event in the first place and what caused this to be able to happen? no one knows, not even dawkins. even parts of dariwns theories have been 'rectified' recently.

thats my rant anywho, make your own minds up!

Its a shame that people are ridiculing religion here. One should think about how they got here and are we really from monkies. Your dad may be a monkey however mine isn't. I believe in a true one creator who made everything that exists and me being here is proof for that for had I not been here then there would be no creator But since i am here there is a creator.

And the whole f-ing point is that just because we don't know everything does not mean that we have to invent an imaginary friend and believe in Santa to explain it. We used not to know that life had evolved, but that was never a reasonable and rational justification to resort to inventing gods and attributing the origin of life to them.

So you're a microbiologist who has an extensive knowledge of the theory of life, but you don't really seem to understand the importance of the distinction between science and superstition.

By the way I don't really care for Dawkins. I think he's a bit of a bellend.

I think you need to do some research before embarrassing yourself further with sweeping generalisations like 'the genius of Charles Darwin'.Darwinism has many flaws. He can't explain how something can be created from nothing,Dawkins can't prove there is no creator,he merely proports a different theory. All in all, neither side has any kind of difinitive proof of their respective theories. One of the great flaws of Darwinism is the complexities of camouflage, the 'evolution 'of the eye:which came first, the eye or the eyelid?I could go on and on.I'm not a God nut, just a guy who believes that our knowledge of God/supreme being/ higher intelligence,is akin to a fly sitting on a cpu and knowing what it was/did.
