Other than maybe some extras, The original footage was used, thus it's just been upscaled. Whats the point?
I think I'd rather just buy the DVD version... Only movies shot in HD should be released on bluray imo.

i am not sure if what you are saying is true. i think the quality of the films which are prepared for cinema rather than normal tv are much higher than normal DVD. now that LCD tv can handle higher qualities then they can write a better quality rather than just upscaling!:-D

What?! Are you kidding? Flat out disagree!

Provided the blu-ray is being produced from a decent quality print, there are noticable quality improvements to be yielded. I enjoyed Mad Max 2 on blu-ray a few months ago.. not a high budget film by any stretch of the imagination but I was frankly astonished at the picture quality in some scenes - it was spectacular! Pin sharp and colourful.

An upscaled DVD does look nice of course but a blu-ray, even from a film not shot in HD, can look superb.

Ghostbusters is another good example of a new release of an old film which has gone through the blu-ray process and come out looking wonderful!

Actually, I stand corrected. Films are/were shot on film which does carry more than enough detail to make HD... So as long as they transfered the original footage, these old films might actually be worth getting on Bluray. :whistling:

Put it this way, you're lucky to have not seen it.

A wind-up surely? Upscaled? 35mm film is capable of resolving much more detail than Blu-ray is (4k of horizontal resolution vs. 2k for Blu-ray). Downscaled is the word you were looking for.

Check out the new "Wizard of Oz" and "Snow White" releases to see those films as you've never seen them before. "Snow White" was filmed in "HD" and that was made 70 years ago.

I thought this film was hugely overrated. Nice price though.

Ok heres my 2pence worth my asda is a 60 mile round trip as I live out in the sticks so to get it from Asda would cost more than the dvd itself. So its a great deal for me with free delivery. Rated number one at the IMDB by 441 thousand people. I will be watching it on a 100 inch 1080p projector, which standard dvds look not so good on, Bly ray far better always. So gooddeal hot TY.

This film was/is a givaway DVD. It was one of the first to sell for £4.99 then 2 for a fiver then given away free with a newspaper. Funny how some films just seem to be offer magnets!

No surprise then that I'm waiting for £3.99 on blu-ray for this one.

Brilliant film, very tempted :-D

Obviously. But what I'm saying is that this FILM was/is in the DVD bargain basement and that it looks like that's where the blu-ray is going. Hence I'm waiting for the blu-ray to drop more!

cheers, ordered with £2.50 voucher i won on here...so thats only £4.45!

Your definitely in the minority there
It's currently the number one movie on the IMDb Top 250
I can't argue with that TBH

Apologies, I'll book myself in for re-programming with the IMDb Thought Police.

I voted hot. It's a good price. The movie ? Watchable, but nothing special.

Sorry to be pedantic, but it's a weighted estimate. See the bottom of the survey for the formula used in the calculation.

It doesn't mean 440,000+ said the movie was outstanding. It just means the movie was a consistent high performer when the votes were taken. It might actually not have been the movie to receive most 10/10 votes ... but because zillions of people gave it 8 or 9/10 it becomes the best ever movie ? And that ain't right.
#35
Would ya believe it!? I've just been sorting the DVDs and I already have this on Blu-ray! Haven't even watched it. It's been lurking at the back hidden by a Smallville boxset. Bought in the Woolworths shutdown on the last day for 80% off if I remember correctly! Bout time I watched it I suppose!:whistling:

Sorry about the domestic detail.

I'm sure the copy i've just ordered is likely to suffer the same fate of being left wrapped on the back of a dark shelf.

of course its right. And its a weighted average, not estimate ;-)

I keep on getting the e-mails off them too. They haven't been able to supply in weeks now so i'd say that for the sake of paying a couple of quid extra elsewhere it's probably worth cancelling.

I am not in a great hurry and maybe thats what they want as it could have been a missprice
