Easily worth the money awesome series!
#7
second to The Wire.
#8
Incredible series!! Great price......I really miss this show.
#9
Best cop show by far. Wire is close but the shield just has a shaper edge to it. Love the way the box set is in a case file format. Fits the idea of the show.

I have never watched such an engrossing drama, this is such an entertaining show.
i too miss it, the conclusion left me feeling empty and shocked.
Do the right thing and join the 'Strike Squad' for a fantastic ride!:)

Hot deal
Though I have to mark it down if it is the same as the individual UK region 2 seasons. Season 5 in particular omitted 2 important scenes. 1 is in the description by the OP "delivering the baby". Why they took that out is beyond me (unless it is after the credits?). The second missing scene(s) is also season 5 where they cut out the Dutch/ Billings vending machines conclusion. I only found out the answers to these story arcs by watching the making of featurettes where it show portions of the missing scenes but with commentary over them.

It wouldn't be so bad but both of the storylines continue into season 6 so unless you have watched the making of featurettes or viewed the missing scenes on youtube you will be lost as to what is happening.

No and that is one of its weaknesses. The majority of the criminals are easily captured and easily outwitted, although season 4 introduces a fantastic storyline around a 1-niner (crip) leader who actually has a brain. The 3 seasons prior to this are a bit "meh" because the streets don't seem to have any nouse, which is why these seasons are nowhere near as good as something HBO would produce like the Wire. The Shield is more of a hollywood portrayal of a cop, one of my peeves about the show is when they catch a criminal the cop always garbles out some cliche'd pun that fits perfectly to the scenario, like say they catch an underage drunk driver they would chase him and upon pounding his face into the american soil Vic Mackey would place his foot on his back and rattle out something like "instead of studying your SATS your getting a DUI". I would always wonder at what point in a high speed car chase does a cop stop thinking about catching the criminal and focuses his attention on a pithy remark.

Around season 4 though the writing improves dramatically and the following seasons are all dynamite. Just don't expect the Wire as it is a completely different tone. Both shows are must sees and contrary to what some people are saying on here the final episode of the shield is perfectly done, without any conventional rubbish that they could have so easily felt obliged to use.

what about the armenians?
what about when they get green lit?
what about Antwan Mitchell?
What about the mexicans?
and what about all the stuff that happens between the charachters particularly in the last 2-3 seasons which i wont say as it will ruin the series for you?

everyone has an opinion, but i personally think the above is a bit one sided and you have only covered the Goodies Vs Baddies angle when the alst 3 seasons at least have a hell of a lot of internal issues usch as Mackies investigation from Forrest Whittikar etc etc who by the way is an absolutely fantastic character and is such a great actor IMHO!!

each to their own i suppose, can't please everyone as we all know! myself included sometimes

What about reading my post?
I get the impression that you saw the first sentence of my post containing "weakness" so then impetuously skimmed through the rest of what I had to say which might I remind you was a response to a post asking "does this cover the criminal's perspective" which the Shield largely does not do!

You ask (probably with folded arms or a shaking fist);
1) "What about when they got greenlit?"
What about it? This doesn't cover the criminal side. We don't see the hierarchy of the antagonists. When they get greenlit it focuses on the cops.

2) "What about Antwon Mitchell?"
Read my comment where I make DIRECT REFERENCE TO THE 1-NINERS LEADER IN SEASON 4. Again though, the Mitchell plot is great but doesn't cover his side of the events. Every scene he is in, so too is a cop.

3) "What about the Mexicans?"
Another faceless organisation that we hear a lot about but don't see much of

4) "and what about all the stuff that happens between the characters particularly in the last 2-3 seasons which i wont say as it will ruin the series for you?"
This has absolutely no relevance to what the original poster was asking about. Let me remind you again in case you are skimming HE WAS ASKING ABOUT THE CRIMINALS IN THE SHIELD.

Your closing paragraph is again off the point, my post wasn't "one sided" I loved the Shield. I'm not criticising it, but I'm helping the poster decide on whether he should buy it in comparison to a show that covers the criminals (like the wire). You seemingly read my comment as "the shield is a load of rubbish don't buy it" which is not the case. Again had you of read my comment you would have taken this in.

You also said
"I personally think"...please learn the concept of tautology.
