Not seen this awesome album as cheap as this before. Makes "The Beatles - White Album" sound like the "***** album". Puts Floyds "Dark Side of the Moon" into the shade. Makes "OK Computer" sound just OK. Nirvana, well "Nevermind".

Possibly the best CD ever recorded.

Sorry for the heavy editing but I don't wanna infract myself for the sweary wordy fest

Ha ha. Mark and Lard, back when radio one was unmissable.
#2
LOVE mark n lard !? ;-)
#3
Bit of Class, what a great deal and really miss the Mark & Lard Show - worst thing Radio 1 ever did was consign them to the lower leagues. Fat Harry White will never be seen again and that's a massive loss - Biggedy Biggedy Bong and a Ummm Baby! Great deal and thanks andywedge for the slightly alternative post

Agree AA
M&L were sharp, funny, cracking taste in music

+1 Couldn't agree more, top double act!
Very much more music focused now radio one, def aimed at a younger audience too!
I mean they dropped jo whiley (well respected new music dj), for fearne (i dont know what time of day it is) cotton.
Say what you want about moyles, love or hate him, he's stood the pace well and still going strong!
Slighlty related, When Moyles Met the Radio 1 Breakfast DJs, he talks to them all except chris evans, even mark n lard are on it.... sun 9pm bbc 2.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00sf6tt

I think the problem with Radio 1 nowadays is the lack of freedom to move away from the very small playlist between 7AM and 7PM. In Mark n the happless boy Lard's day they had much more freedom to play what they wanted (which turned out to be good as they had great taste in music as AndyWedge mentioned) as long as they threw in the odd playlist song. Currently though the playlist is forced upon each and every daytime show and they all the decide is what order to play the music in. Lets be honest about it none of the day time DJ's are actually into music in anyway, they are just there to fill in the gaps and links. It may make me sound like an old fart but I much preferred it when DJ's were enthusiastic about music they were playing or bringing to the attention of us the listeners.

The latter part is very true, but i think for a lot of people it's having a laugh or making them smile on their way to work in the morning.
Moyles is the self proclaimed saviour of radio 1, he always said he would be, way back when he was doing the graveyard shift, and the afternoons.
He has risen to the task, regulary comes out on top, only just narrowly beating by wogan on radio 2, when he was there.
And as of 2010 is the longest serving dj, to do the breakfast show, he must be doing something right.

I actually don't mind Chris Moyles for entertainent value, but the music side of things is a completely different matter.

Loved Mark and Lard, but their comedy albums are only good to listen to once, maybe twice before the jokes get a little thin.

Also these is an old record; all the references will be extremely dated! oh well.

Totally agree. I think they got rid of most of the DJs who actually knew about, and who were interested in,music for it's own sake rather than just as a filler between their "oh so wonderful" talky bits. There are still the odd ones left though - including the wonderful Bob Harris. Long may he remain on the airwaves :)

6 Music is a belting radio station and IMHO is much better than the current R1.

Just a shame it's only on DAB, Freeview, Online or Sky 0120 (not on FM in the car) and that the powers that be have decided to close '6 Music'.:x

I've grown up listening to R1 and can't believe how utterly s***e it become over the last few years, with all the drivel from Edith Bowman, Fearne Cotton and Sara Cox. I just can't bring myself to listen to any of them.

As for Moyles? I know this isn't gonna be popular, but personally, I think he's an overpaid, product-placing, self-promoting fat gobs***e who should just P!$$ off to some commercial radio station.

They've let some classic presenters go and replaced them with.... well the above.

As for the music on R1? Hmmmm!

They should swap the two IMHO in the name of all their loyal listeners.

I know it not as easy as that, but it would be nice.

Thanks for prompting me to sign the petition.

I've been meaning to do it for weeks and have always been too busy or forgot when I had the time.

Done it now tho'. Thanks.

Hate radio 1.
Its just a "text in so we get some money" station now.
All the djs do is read a few texts out between songs, and then beg for you to text in for some nonsense like "tell us what you think about my hat" so they can mug you for more money, and read out what people think about their hat...arrgh!!
Moyles is the only person I get angry with anywhere. Im pretty mellow, and could turn off, but I have to listen to him to shout and rant at what a tool he is, so maybe thats how his listening figures are good :-D
Absolute radio is good music and no repeats in the working day, unlike radio1 and crapital.

If memory serves there was a Fat Harry White album as well, wasn't there? I never got round to buying it but I do have this one and "Worst Album in the World..."

I definitely agree with aphasiac though; it's a hilarious CD the first few listens for sure, but the novelty will probably wear thin after a few spins -- and it does pain me to say that, as an avid listener of the Graveyard Shift show back in the mid-90s (and I saw them play live a few times too). But if you don't mind paying four quid for a short-lived but VERY funny album then by all means go for it -- it's not a bad price at all :)

I like the banter ("scripted ad-libs") between Mark & Stuart in Radio Two's "The Radcliffe and Maconie Show". Some of it is reminiscent of Mark & Lard in their late night Radio One programme.
