Emmy Award-winning drama THE SOPRANOS follows the personal and professional exploits of mafia boss Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) as he tries to balance his home life with heading up a criminal organisation. This box set contains all 86 episodes from series 1 through 6.

Watch all episodes of writer-producer-director David Chase's extraordinary US television series. The Sopranos is nominally an urban gangster drama, but its true impact strikes closer to home, chronicling a dysfunctional, suburban family in bold relief. And for protagonist Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), there's the added complexity posed by heading twin families, his collegial mob clan and his own, nouveau riche brood.

The series' first season was built around what Tony learns when, whipsawed between those two worlds, he finds himself plunged into depression and seeks psychotherapy--a gesture at odds with his mid-level machismo, yet instantly recognizable as a modern emotional test. With analysis built into the very spine of the show's elaborate episodic structure, creator Chase and his formidable team of directors, writers and actors weave an unpredictable series of parallel and intersecting plot arcs that twist from tragedy to farce to social realism throughout six spellbinding series. While created for a smaller screen, they enjoy a far larger canvas than a single movie would afford, and the results, like the very best episodic television, attain a richness and scope far closer to a novel than movies normally get. Alternately seductive, exasperated, fearful, and murderous, James Gandolfini's Tony is utterly convincing, even when executing brutal shifts between domestic comedy and dramatic violence

£69.99 @ HMV if you (Quidco/NUS) prefer - Link in post below; but £86 to £120 elsewhere

but £86 to £120 elsewhere

Perhaps that's why

Maybe if it was £75 at Amazon and £85 at HMV you's say it was a "deal"; but personally I prefer it at £69/£70 at two places rather than £75 at one place and £85+ elsewhere

I was given this for Christmas last year when it was over £100....cannot believe I had missed it on TV....v addictive, great series ;-)

Anyone know if there are any plans to release all seasons on BD?

I was in the States recently, and picked up Season 6 parts 1 and 2 on HDDVD for a fiver each.

The quality is amazing. :w00t:

EDIT: Season 1 released on BD in November:

Ahh you could of brought me back a set!! I was toying with the idea of getting them off ebay but always go for about a tenner each, not sure its worth it....

Was going to say you can get them on blu ray, but will cost about 4 times the price of the complete series on dvd and youll have to wait a while!!

Is this the 3rd Boxset of Sopranos then ?

Anyone know whats different from the "Deluxe" boxset thats on Amazon as well for over £100 ? ....

Thanks ;-)

P.S.

Well done everyone on keeping this thread spoilers free

I own the individual seasons boxsets 1-5 but have yet to watch 5 or 6 .....

This is really stupid on my part, as I've owned season 5 since it came out and almost don't want to watch it as that only leaves season 6 then it's all finished. :-(

I keep putting it off and watching other shows over tha last few years, but at the same time I lend my boxsets out and try and get everyone into the show .... I'm clearly mental !

Have they definitely finished making the Sopranos? Would hate to spaff a load of cash on the "definitive" collection and then a new series gets released. Then again, I would love them to make another 209238408340983 seasons of the program I love it so much.
#24
Its not coming back for sure, if it is it will be in film form alla Sex in the City style.

Well unless they discover Tony had another son I doubt they could make a 7th series after that fatal crocodile attack in the last episode that wiped out the whole family...

he's winding you up!!

I was gutted after finishing season 6, but gonna get the box set & watch all over again, its even funnier the 2nd time round apparently, theres things/people that happen in the later series that are in the earlier episodes that you dont take too much notice of - does that make sense?

best EVER series imho:thumbsup:

Lol I know its a wind up.

I have watched through a few times, and completley agree, watching the second time round you pick up on a lot more. In fact it wasn't until the second time around I picked up on one of the characters getting married.

This is great value for the greatest television show ever made, would recommend the series too anyone

very tempted at this price but I know I wont have time to watch it :( Apart from the Borders deal a few months ago I have not seen this at £50 ever... I'd be surprised if this box set ever falls below the current price. The Borders deal they only had about 3 or 4 copies in the whole of the UK so this is better as everyone has a chance to get one :)

HBO boxsets usually hover close to the £100+ mark for ages, then on special offers fall to 60-ish, then they put them back up close to Xmas ... so based on past experience if you want this then get it now as Im convinced the price will go up soon :)

Six feet under complete set went to under £50 as has the wire and curb your enthusiasm.

This will be £50 within a few months.
