Depressing? Nope, overrated, possibly....

Whilst Marr is a most impressive guitarist, sad that in the eighties other indie bands with equally if not better guitar talents such as "Felt" and "The Duritti Column" never got the coverage the music press darlings gave to "The Smiths"

I'm sure we're all undiscovered genius guitarists. Johnny Marr and Gary Moore on here tonight. Give the techno wizards something else to think about.....

In fairness, this compilation is good for those that were either firstly in nappies, or secondly not born, but want to educate themselves with alternative 80s, although personally I could think of better bands, but its all subjective now ;-)

Pair up Geordie Walker and Johnny Marr...now there is two great guitarists...and by the way there is few connections between the two bands ;-)

Rourke was bassist in KJ albeit for only a couple of weeks, and Morrissey was recently at the LA gig of the World tour of the reunited original line up of KJ last month.

So there is shared respect between the two bands at least ;-)

I do like The Smiths, but its all subjective, they are not my favourite 80s band...I don't think I could single out just one fave tho.

I love The Smiths though during the 80`s, for reasons unknown to me now, I wrote out all the words to few songs in an exercise book, think I may have been wanting to learn the words, anyhow, my mum found it and sat me down for a talk, it seems she`d thought I`d written the words myself and was just a little worried about me! "I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour but heaven knows I`m miserable now"!
