Great album, underrated if you ask me, simply as it wasn’t as good as their first, oh and it took about 5 years to make!!

Some of the Squire guitar solos go on a bit, but that’s what you get for being high at the time I suppose!

Top album!

personally, I wouldn't bother.....not up to scratch compared to their first, but each to their own!!

worth it for ten storey love song alone
excellent album just wasn't what Roses fans wanted at that time

This allegedly is a prime example of why cocaine shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a recording studio. If only they’d had the common sense to Smack Up!

Need to forget the first Stone Roses LP when judging this one. It took me 5 years to even start to like it. Now it amazes me. Great songs. Brilliant playing. Maybe not as timeless as the first but at 3 quid, this is a must.

How interesting you say that. The first album, which let's face it is seminal to most people, and I agree with the thousands of others who suggest it is the finest debut album of all time (although Van Halen I, Led Zep I, Arctic Monkeys IMO come close), came out when I was at University and I still listen to it 20 years on. When the second album came out I thought it was a load of derivative rubbish. Ten years later it sounds absolutely superb.

Top 5 debut albums of all time - anyone care to share ?
