One of my fave sci-fi films ever and the cheapest I've seen the 2 disc edition. A must have if you don't own already.

Don't forget 5% Quidco for further saving.

Description:

In this blazing sci-fi classic, Arnold Schwarzenegger is perfectly cast as the fiercest and most relentless killing machine ever to threaten the survival of mankind! From the Oscar winning director of 'Titanic' this fast-paced, cleverly conceived, rip roaring action adventure fires an arsenal of thrills, intriguing plot twists and heart-stopping suspense that never lets up for a minute!

In 2029, giant super-computers dominate the planet, hell-bent on exterminating the human race! And to destroy man's future by changing the past, they send an indestructible cyborg - a Terminator - back in time to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), the woman whose unborn son will become mankind's only hope. Can Sarah protect herself from this unstoppable menace to save the life of her unborn child? Or will the human race be extinguished by one mean hunk of mutant metal? Followed by two sequels: Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 1991, and 'Terminator 3' in 2002!

More strangely, why is this version rated 15, whilst the original VHS and new definative edition DVD are rated 18? I heard that if you are a genuine fan of the film, you shouldnt buy this (the 15) version as it is apparently edited in a slightly different, and worse way. I can't recall the differences but when I read them a while back I thought they were pretty bad.
Great movie though - and still remarkably efficient and interesting imho.

Terminator was an 18, now a 15, then back to 18 for the recent release. It might be an 18 because of extras though. The same thing happened to the excellent chiller Southern Comfort (research on IMDB if you havent seen this film, its awesome) - this was justifiably an 18 originally, then a 15 for the dvd release. The other thing that annoys me about these constant revamps is how the covers change. The classic iconic poster for Terminator is great - but these silly CGI images of the robot faces look daft and ruin the gritty feel of the movie. Likewise with Predator - the original poster represented the mood of the movie, whereas the modern dvd has a cgi predator face, with lots of green nonsense and a title font that looks like it was designed by college kid who is excited by 'what photoshop can do'.

Here is an amazon review for this edition of Terminator:

"This is an amazing film, but for some reason, not documented anywhere, this UK version is cut to pieces. It's run time of 103 mins, is 5 mins short of the 107 mins the US region 1 version has.
The violence has been cut down to a minimum, and swearing almost removed entirely. No one seems to know why this was cut for british audiences, but the cuts are bad and obvious to anyone who watches movies.

Buy the Region 1 if you have a multi region player, or you'll be annoyed!"

The runtime comparison between NTSC (R1) and PAL (R2) dvds is no guide to whether material is cut from it or not, the PAL version of any movie is slightly shorter because its played faster, something to do with the conversion from film I believe.

Movies in cinemas are 24fps, PAL is 25fps, and NTSC is 30fps, iirc they use a method to generate extra frames for NTSC, but just speed it up for PAL.

This has created soooo many urban myths about 'extended/versions' of films & what was 'cut' over the years.

Good price for my favorite of the trilogy, but fortunately I have all 3 single discs.
