A powerful front line cast, including Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Woody Harrelson, and George Clooney, explodes into action in this hauntingly realistic view of military and moral chaos in the Pacific during World War II. Nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (Terrence Malick), The Thin Red Line is an unparalleled cinematic masterpiece.

This is an amazing thought provoking film. It's mainly about Sean Penn and James Caviezel's characters and a look at how war affects people.

Not an action movie but one of my favourites. Surprised me how much I like it...

Hot!

Not an action movie? Plenty of action throughout! Okay it's not just an action movie, which is perhaps what you meant. ;-)

Yes, excellent war film and seen several times. Would have been very hot if it had been a special edition.

One of the very best recent war films and was wrongly overshadowed by SPR on release . I'm a huge war film fan and this is right up there with Platoon ,Cross of Iron , Come & See , Das Boot ,BoB etc.

the best war thing i have seen recently, if anyone is interested, is Generation Kill - outstanding gentlemen!

I prefer The Thin Blue Line myself! :)

I remember watching it at the cinema when it came out thinking it was good in places but a bit long and boring overall. However, watching it again a few years later (and older!) I thought it was a great film, amazing cinematography and terrific performances from Nick Nolte and Jim Caviezel.

Now that was a pile of left wing Ben Elton *****.

Can't believethere are people that really didn't like The Thin Red Line. Well, accept maybe the Pop Idol Soapy types.

Well okay, sorry. Perhaps the opposite, gung-ho types then. ;)

PS
I'll have to watch Generation Kill sometime but put off by the fact it's a serial. The Hurt Locker I recommend.
