I got this huuuuge book for Christmas and it's brilliant. At 15 quid it's a ridiculous price!
Waterstones - £44.99
Amazon - £33.75
It's even thirty quid on Fleabay!

Synopsis
The ultimate work of historical reference From cavemen to the Cold War, from Alexander the Great to global warming, from warfare through the ages to the great voyages of exploration, The Times Complete History of the World is the book that has all the answers, the detail and the authoritative text in one breathtaking single historical source. With over 600 full-colour maps and charts on a wide range of historical subjects and representing the work of a team of professional historians.

Publisher and industry reviews
"This is one of the great works of historical reference in the English language. If you were allowed only one history book in the whole of your life, The Times Complete History of the World would be hard to beat because it conveys a sense not only of time, but also of place." Niall Ferguson, Professor of History, Harvard University.
"Wonderfully told history, brilliant graphics and maps, comprehensive and utterly accessible. In the internet age, proof positive that this reference book still has the edge by a considerable margin." Jon Snow

I got this for Christmas, original RRP £75. Its a really good book, certainly not for kids, it is written by lots of academics. You could spend an hour on each page reading in detail or a few mins scanning over it.

It covers everything from the Afghanistan 'conflict' to Neolithic man. It is the kind of book that you pick up every now and then and find you've been reading for two hours. For £15 everyone should have one.

Just ordered, thanks.
It was this or the Dawn of War collection. I think I chose wisely.

This is NOT the big version though. Look at the size......

It's the small one. Still cheap, but not as good a deal as a couple of months ago when they had the big books for that price.
#6
Just measured mine. It is 38cm x 28cm.

The one in the deal is 23.4cm x 15.3cm.

Ok being a bit blind here, but how do you get the free delivery, best I can manage is 7-10 day delivery for £1.75

It is a very good book well worth the money. A better title would be "The Times - The INComplete History of the World" as it has just a tiny amount of history of the world since most of stuff is missing and is written from an Anglo Saxon perspective rather a world perspective. For example, what happened to the whole North American with the Red Indians, what happened to their history. Another one is the 100 ethnic groups in China and what happened to their history.

I ordered this before Xmas expecting a small size version due to the dimensions given but I can confirm it is the big version. Awesome book for the money. They also do the Times History one too for the same price.

That's all in "The Times - The Complete History of the World, Part 2, The Revenge....This Time it's Personal".

Perhaps people are getting metric and imperial measurements mixed up !

****... the History of the World is complete? The world is ending? The End is Nigh? Better eat those last cheesy biscuits before the heaven falls down..

Never worth £75 and at £15 just about worth its money in my opion. Then again I am a tight git.
#20
Looked it up on Amazon - the cover indicates that the one posted here is the 6th edition (2004) rather than the 7th edition (2007). Dimensions for both are the same.

Let's not forget history gets rewritten occasionally to suit the needs of rulers.
