Meet Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic cocktail waitress in the quiet rural town of Bon Temps, Louisiana. Her ability to read minds makes her slightly undateable... but then along comes Bill. He's tall, dark and handsome but he's fussy about his food, he doesn't like suntans and he's never around during the day. Yup, he's a vampire! Worse than that, he hangs out with a seriously creepy crowd. Don't miss out on these action-packed supernatural mysteries, the books behind the award-winning TV series that's taken the world by storm.

Included in this collection are :-
Dead to the World
Dead as a Doornail
All Together Dead
Club Dead
Definitely Dead
Dead Until Dark
From Dead to Worse

Good deal, shame I have six of them :-(
#3
Great deal - I only have three of them (and only read two) and cant find the third! Nearly paid full price last week for the set - glad I waited. ORDER placed, (awaitng stock in warehouse!)
Real easy reading and good value - can't wait, thanx.
HOT

Great price...although not sure if it is 8 separate books, as the picture shows the first book as a True Blood Omnibus with the first 4 in the series all together, then 4 separate books behind..

Wouldn't bother me personally at that price though, so still hot!!

No free delivery for me - over £5 for delivery to Northern Ireland - what a joke.

And they probably use Royal Mail which costs the same to NI.

Great price! Read until the 3rd now and was looking to buy the fourth. I used PDNOV for free delivery to NI too!!

Try phoning their orderline and quoting one of the free delivery codes. Someone on here did that for one Book People deal and got free delivery.

Fantastic price!!! the retail price for one of these alone in borders is 6.99! Even bought a set for my sister for x-mas.

OK perhaps a dumb question, but if I grab these books is it going to make me hate/scream at the TV every time I watch True Blood when it comes back (Season 3) ?

They go off the book storyline...like in the books theres no Jessica, or Maryann but yeah, there are parts where you go, "hold on...thats not right".....:whistling:

Can only say, i think its more a girly book, it focuses alot on Sookie and her relationships and theres alot of sex (with vamps and shifters)..my OH has no interest in it at all. Id suggest maybe checking out the first book at a library or something to see if it whets your appetite (sorry all i can suggest!!)
#16
These books are such good fun! I checked them all out from the library, but wish I could've had the whole set at home to just read one after another in short order. Great price, and this would be a great Christmas gift!
#17
Great deal - I paid a hell of a lot more for these when I bought them for my girlfriend. Ok, I admit it - I read them too.
#18
Excellent deal.

I have the first 3 so had to duplicate but it's so cheap who cares.

Don't forget quidco 8%

True fans of the vampire mythology despise what Twilight has done to the genre (climbing up trees like a monkey - wtf?). I try to pretend it doesn't exist personally.

Just like the people who had huge frizzy perms in the 90's - pretend it never happened and just start reading/watching True Blood instead. ;-)

+1 :-D

Twilight is complete fluff and nonsense written in nice terms for kids..Southern Vampire (the name of the book series) is adult, funny, sexy and bloody brilliant.....you wont regret it

Just ordered this. The free P&P code saved me over a fiver!

The gf will love these. In fact I think I'll do all my xmas shopping on hotUKdeals...

Just finished Breaking Dawn and loved the whole Twilight series - will give these a go and see if they are up my street, though they seem rather different :w00t:

Am not really a "true fan of vampire mythology" just want something to read at night, not really into whole Christopher Lee, sucking necks, coffins, etc., and I didn't read Twilight because it was about Vampires more so I was ill and it was cheap in Tesco's and thought so it why not, every flipping female is talking about it!! LOL! I love them for exactly what they were and was a great escape from the kids and the husband!

So just wondering if these are really like? Are they more chick lit rathen than dark and bloody???
#28

Sorry, I didn't mean my comment as a personal insult to yourself. We all have different views and opinions on things after all!
I see no reason why you shouldn't like these books, though. It's based around a southern girl called Sookie Stackhouse, who falls in-love with a vampire (which is frowned upon).
The Japanese have invented a synthetic blood (Called "True Blood"), meaning vampires could be accepted as another 'race' as they no longer needed to feed on humans. But of course things aren't always that easy... :)

Don't worry, didn't take it as one! :-D I've ordered them, they sound quite good! Looking forward to reading them!!

I don't know anything about Twilight or if a fan of those books would like these, but these are basically romance/mystery books with lots of supernatural elements, girl power and action. The books are a bit thin -- meaning plots and characters aren't always fleshed out as well as they could be and there's no beautifully phrased, exceptional writing or storytelling to be found here -- but they are a quick, light read that's absolutely loads of fun. Actually, these books *are* exceptional in how addictive they are!

I think they are probably a bit more for women than men, though surely some men would like them.

Thanks, just ordered.

Anyone know if these come in a display box? The ones I can find on the internet all seem to come in cardboard case....

Just to add insight from a male reader who enjoys both the Twilight saga and the Southern Vampire collection. The Twilight saga is completely orientated (and dominated) by the idea of love and romance. In essence I enjoy them but they really do lack the violence I sometimes enjoy (trying not to spoil here).

The True Blood series is a completely different take on the vampire world and changes its aspects from sex, to murder, to mythology like any other book would and its this that I find enjoyable. You have to begin reading these books understanding completely that they are and never were meant to be twilight. Once you are over that you will find yourself slowly getting wrapped around the world of Sookie Stackhouse.

As for those posters asking whether this has bearing on the TV show, I personally find these books much more enjoyable to read than the show but you will find variations on what happens between the two and that makes it an even more enjoyable read.

The True Blood series is a fantastic read and I would definately say that they are more geared towards a male and female audience than Twilight ever was. A word of warning though, dont make any definate decisions until you've read beyond the 3rd or 4th book ;)

I hope that helps any confused readers.

Thanks for this. I had just decided today to try these & was going to order the first one from play but took this deal instead.
