The Tudors: Complete BBC Series 1 [2007]

Passion, ambition, and treachery collide in this compelling drama about the early years of King Henry VIII`s infamous 40-year reign. With a lust for power and an appetite for love, this young Monarch (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) rules his kingdom as he lives his life - with ruthless abandon. Affairs of the state carry little interest for him, and official matters are left to the powerful Cardinal Thomas Wolsey (Sam Neill), while England`s ruler tends to his own desires.

This engaging and thrilling drama also stars Natalie Dormer, Jeremy Northam and Gabrielle Anwar.

£11.43 delivered unless someone has Amazon prime :)

Or spend over £15. It's all about context. :)

As discussed in Feedback Amazon prices should include delivery... particularly when making a comparison with an item where the price includes delivery!

For anyone who cares about these things.

Although presented as a historical drama, much of this is NOT historical. Think of it as a tudor soap opera.

* Many of the events portrayed did not happen
* or happened at different times (often 10 or 20 years different)
* some characters are "made up"
* or two characters have been merged into one (so the events that happened to two different characters are merged to happen to a single character)
* Some of the objects used in the program did not exist in Tudor times - like a pistol, or a royal carriage.

Through the whole of the first series King Henry is shown as quite young, yet he was married to his first wife (Catherine of Aragon) for nearly 25 years, but he never seems to age.
