Agreed, I like the album. People really should pick it up for under £2 and give it a listen.

I have posted before about this album, it had mixed reviews, but I feel its misunderstood.

The main problem being that as was apparant on Urban Hymns, differences between Ashcroft penned and Verve penned songs collectively became so apparant, and whilst Urban Hymns is a classic album its not in true spirit of the original Verve as was. Containing more laddish rock anthemic songs which swayed away from what The Verve used to be about...lets face it The Verve were space rock/shoegaze.

Whilst this album STILL has Ashcroft penned songs which are apparant, it still succeeds more so in the fact that it lets Nick McCabes guitaring shine, and is a stronger nod toward what The Verve used to do, and is worth any lapsed fans of early Verve checking out.

I think opinions of this album are so divided due to so called "fans" that only really "got" Urban Hymns not really understanding fully what this band are about and just see them as another lad rock Oasis/Stereophonics and fail to get the space rocked guitar instead of generic anthems.

Any lapsed fans just check out "Judas" from this album....hear McCabes guitar, smile, and reminisce of past Verve Glorious early EPS http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XLP1Ng38rJY

Or this nod to a Nothern Soul era Verve http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa5FBK4bEVM

Loved the Verves last album, and have only heard "Love is Noise" from this and loved it. Well worth £2!!

Shame I ordered something the other day for a tenner! If I had seen this I would have added it on. Still, I have found some excellent albums on the £3 download deal

Thankyou - heat and rep added - just ordered it along with a DVD I wanted. I used to love Verve when they had "The" in front....blimey that is going back! Then I remember someone threatened to sue them or something as there was already a "The Verve" so they became "Verve"....or something like that anyway!

Thankyou!

Not quite, the other way round :-), they had to add "The" in front of "Verve" this was due to a jazz record label that is part of the Universal Music Group called "Verve".

Because some of us like to listen to properly mastered CDs on decent CD players, some of us that like music are audiophiles.

I still enjoy whirling cds in my NAD player thanks...
