Good fun these - bought one from Play for £15.99 just before Christmas. They get mixed reviews, and we had to send a couple back (first was damaged in transit, second was faulty) but they are worth persevering with.

very sturdy, mine has to be the amount i crash it.

Mine worker for about 2 minutes, then the blades spin without touching the control.

Avoid like the plague.

Dealextreme. Battlecopter twin set for £20.

Bought one of these back along, same one from play.com, was ok for hour or so, basic up and down movement, but then it fell to the floor, and you could hear the motor whirl but the blades wouldnt spin, so waste of money, very delicate toy.

These are great fun if u get a good one. Unfortunately they are pretty cheaply made hence some are faulty or fail prematurely.

If the blades don't turn push the main gear wheel up slightly on the shaft from underneath as it can sometimes drop below the motor drive gear.
Leave the helecopter for a few minutes after flying before recharging the battery again. These li-polymer batteries become hot during use and recharging straight after use can overheat them and considerably shorten the battery life.

jon67 is one of very few remaining full-time Wasp Super Micro Helicopter mechanics around, these days. I'm dropping mine off at his garage tomorrow. I just hope that the bill is less than £9.99...

Any mini copters I've bought have said "RC" but they actually use infra-red and so they're prone to going out of line of sight to the controller and therefore drop to the ground.

Sometimes mine goes too high out of sight and then carries on dead forward unless I frantically point the controller towards the sky :P

They're fun in an open space though!

...as you need to buy several if you want to have one still working after a month. I've been there - they're either dead on arrival, fail on day one or only work until the first crash or bumpy landing.

There is such a thing as too cheap ;-)

toys r us had the PicoZ for £20 at Christmas and I got two. My cat plays with them about two or three times a week and grabs, wacks & bats them around the room one died only when sat on the other is still flying like new!
Can't comment on this deal tho..

Why don't you spend another £10 and get a pico Z from Tesco or Amazon. I did and its well worth spending the extra just for the build quality. There was another thread on here that mentioned B & M were doing a deal on R/C helicopters. Went down and looked at the quality and decided against it. In fact the quality looks a little similar to this copter. If you look carefully the decent copters have another little pair of blades above the main blades, instead of bars like this one does. The build quality on the Pico Z's is also light years ahead of £10 jobby's.

My pico Z has crashed into the wall, the light shade, fallen about 3 metres to the floor, smacked into the book case, the door, ran out of battery and fallen to the floor - anyway its still here working, the build quality is really good, and I think that for an extra £10 its worth the hassle of sending a copter back to play.com when it break after 10 minutes.

Just my 5 bobs worth.

The advantage being if you knacker it you can take it back!

Spoke too soon. Mine lasted one day and now the battery won't hold it's charge!
