This really doesn't need any introduction. Simpy THE best TV show of all time, now at a new bargain price.

EDIT: You can get an extra £5 off to make the price £52.96 by using voucher code PLARBS09 (Expires 6/12/09). That makes it less than £11 a season - a true bargain. And with 4% Quidco you are looking at only a touch over £50.

If you've never heard of this show (where have you been the last 12 months?) and want to know more....

"One of television's most critically acclaimed programmes, The Wire challenges viewers with a "cop show" unlike anything on air. Universally lauded, The Guardian claimed that 'you either love The Wire or you haven't seen it yet' - now there is no excuse with the release of this complete box-set.

The HBO series addresses the seedy side of Baltimore's finest looking into money, drugs, politics and murder. Told from the point of view of both the police and their targets, the series captures a universe of subterfuge and surveillance, where easy distinctions between good and evil, and crime and punishment, are challenged at every turn.

A study on urban life in one of America's toughest cities, each season of The Wire has focused on a different aspect of Baltimore, starting with the police force and the drug trade, then moving on to City Hall, the education system and concluding with the media. Over the course of five seasons, David Simon has endeavoured to build a city.

It is a groundbreaking, complex and political look at the streets of America, detailed and fiercely intelligent; there is no other show like it on TV."

£5 off £50.00 voucher so... £52.96 delivered.

Tempting, very tempting.

BangCD have these individually for £9.99 a season and 10% Quidco cashback (I got Season 1 from them). You can try a season to see if you like it without having to splash out for the rest. If you buy the rest individually, you don't need to be in (they'll fit through your letterbox) and it'll still work out cheaper.

Stringer Bell says this makes good business sense.

They don't have season 5, and mine took a long time to arrive.

I disagree, I think it's over-rated, but still an exceptional piece of television. Good price. Heat added.

I've seen the lot and I can't recommend this strongly enough.

Season 1 makes for some very hard viewing to start off with (due to the slang) so as long as you stick with it, by the end of the Season 5 extended finale if you aren't wanting more, then you're a bit strange really.

Which is probably why people like myself harp on about it......... It didn't go 18 seasons further than it should have to milk that extra few pennies out of it.

"Simply the best show of all time"....... Arguable, but there's no doubt in my mind it's near the top.
