One of the best TV shows I've ever seen

Series 5 certainly isn't the best imo, but is still essential viewing

edit - Rest of the series can be had for £9.99 - £11.49 each at Bangcd for those that don't already know

Yeah I think series 2 and 4 were my favourites, but overall I enjoyed the finale too!

HOT. great price for the final season. my fav ever TV show. great season too. got them all on dvd already but would buy for this price if i didnt.

HMV have the same price and quidco/mcdonald's vouchers, mind you!

Does this have subtitles? I'm currently watching the first season on BBC2, but am finding the American gangster street slang very difficult to understand, and am almost giving up on it.

Then put the subs on!

I think you will find that even with the subs on you may need an online translator for the definitions. Look on babblefish.com for "philly street jive" to "english". this will help but may well hamper your viewing as you have to pause then type in the words phoneticaly . Heres an example, type in "yo bro yo ho iz dissin me" comes out in english as "my freind your girlfreind is insulting me" go ahead and try it.

I find that if you just stick with it the language starts making sense eventually anyway.

Gonna need a re-up on dem WMD's!

currently PVR ing (series record) all these on my Humax, which automatically records all the subtitles and can be switched on off which is GREAT... however have found some of the episodes have first 20 seconds missing, which is NOT so Great....

Sandman is right. It starts to come together after a while but I still had subs on too.

Good price, cheers

Glad I held off previously

Greap price, and I've just finished season 4 too so perfect timing!

I agree with most of the above...probably my favourite program of all time. Barack Obama's too, apparently.

The things that make it so special are it's credibility (it was created, produced, and primarily written by author and former police reporter David Simon from the area in which the program is set) and character development over a prolonged period.

I know several people who have complained that it's a bit slow...I think this is due to the way each episode builds on the last rather than 13 mini stories. Be patient, I promise it's well it.

OK, I know it was MY post initially that linked to a web page with a spoiler, but I have sorted that now.

gken74 and hearts; how do you feel about editing your posts to save anyone else from the same fate?

I record it on my PVR (BT Vision), but you can't set the series record to automatically record the subs! Looks like I may have to invest in a Humax!

Took a chance on this when other seasons were £10 each.

Still waiting for 5th season to fall a little more
