Very good series!

Do HMV still do the student discount? I thought it stopped when Zavvi closed?
#3
Even though they stopped the scheme and you couldn't get a card for the new academic year, people who registered last years on HMV online are still getting the 10% taken off all orders automatically
#4
How much is it in-store? It would easier to get student discount in-store - no?

Heat BTW

I'm guessing it's not this price in store as these online deals never seem to be matched instore. In terms of the discount, they don't officially do a student discount anymore (see post above) so no you wouldn't get it. £44.99 is a bargain anyway.

One of the best ever.

Keep it hush hush but even though they stopped the scheme and you couldn't get a card for the new academic year, people who registered last years on HMV online are still getting the 10% taken off all orders automatically

No dont keep it hush hush, let everyone know!

Well yeah but if/when HMV find out about the loophole they'll fix it. Anyone who is already getting this discount is probably aware, while if you aren't there is no way to start getting it.

sssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttttttttttttt !

Never seen it under £50 before. Any Hmv discount codes about?

I love the Wire, watched it all twice now I want to watch it again. Great find. I've got £160 of HMV vouchers to spend and could really do with buying this and Sopranos (http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/652200/sopranos-complete-series-1-2-3-4-5-) but they don't let you use them online. Damn!!
#14
anyone seen any other box sets that match this standard, shame they only made 5 series really!

Pretty much the best drama I've ever seen. Great price and definately worth adding to a collection. Heat and rep added.

Ssshhhhhheeeetttt

Great series...

Watching OZ now - funny seeing loads of people from The Wire appearing in it from Avon to Lester... thats worth a look for anyone who enjoyed The Wire as well..
#19
I'm of the opinion that it's one of the worst series of all time...it's totally ruined television for me as no series could prossibly ever compare to it ;)
#20
Oh I wish i had seen this before I bought The Sopranos...I never knew that the actor that played McNulty was actually English until I saw him appear hosting Have I Got News for You.
#21
Watched all of them over the last couple of weeks, awesome show, got the last episode to watch tonight. Omar's whistling is the best part!

Friday Night Lights is apparently just as good... Go ahead and watch it now so you can act all smug when the mainstream media catches onto it in a year or two.

Dont forget 5% Quidco http://www.quidco.com/hmv

I was a fan of OZ, the first few series were great, but the later series were really poor, new characters been introduced in every episode just to have them killed off, and the idea of the facility being explored was not progressed any further. Shame

Great price, absolutely brilliant TV! Thanks OP.

The Shield is a top quality cop show, not quite as 'highbrow' as The Wire but lots of people understandably like both.

As mentioned, Oz is a fantastic TV prison-based series. Many, many recognisable faces in standout career performances.

Along other lines but top quality great TV - Rome (HBO), Carnivale (HBO), Band of Brothers (HBO) - seeing a pattern here? ;-)

I think HBO are making a series called Treme about Hurricane Katrina advertised as 'from the people behind The Wire'. And of course the current HBO series The Pacific as a companion piece to Band of Brothers.

Generation Kill was good, my favourite though was the West Wing, although totally different genre - still a box set though Omar :whistling:

Received mine today :) Even came with a free HBO DVD which contains full length episodes of: True Blood (season 2 ep1), Eastbound & Down (season 1 ep1) and Hung (season 1 ep1).

Haven't seen the last 2 shows so an additional bonus. It says on the cover of the DVD that this is 'Free with a purchase of any DVD in the HBO range, Only at HMV.com'
