This is one of the most atmospheric and 'alive' RPG's i have ever played. I own the Collectors Edition and have spent many hours playing it. The Enhanced patch that they released (which is included) basically redid all the voice acting, fixed all the bugs and just made the game more polished and therefore even more enjoyable. Next cheapest is £15.93.

The RPG of the Year is back - in a Premium Edition packed with powerful extras! Assume the role of The Witcher, Geralt, a legendary monster slayer caught in a web of intrigue as he battles forces vying for control of the world! Make difficult decisions and live with the consequences in a game that will immerse you in an extraordinary tale like no other!

Representing the pinnacle of storytelling in role-playing games, The Witcher shatters the line between good and evil in a world where moral ambiguity reigns. The Witcher emphasizes story and character development in a vibrant world while incorporating tactically-deep real-time combat like no game before it.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition takes all of the acclaimed gameplay that garnered the original game more than 90 awards, and perfects it with a number of gameplay and technical improvements.

* Superior dialogue and cutscenes - The developers have re-recorded and rewritten more than 5000 lines of dialogue in English and redone the entire German edition to create more a more consistent experience, while adding more than 200 gesture animations to make characters behave more believably in dialogue and cutscenes.
* Enhanced inventory - The new inventory system makes item use and organization less complicated by introducing a separate sack for any alchemical ingredients, as well as a simple sort-and-stack function. Spend less time managing your inventory and more time playing the game.
* Technical improvements - The enhancements made to the technical side of the game are too numerous to list, but a few of the highlights include greatly reduced loading times, greater stability, improved combat responsiveness, faster inventory loading, the option to turn autosave on or off, and more.
* Character differentiation system - To add more variety to NPC and monster appearances, we've added a new character differentiation system that randomizes the appearance and colors of dozens of in-game models.
* The Package - The Witcher: Enhanced Edition is more than just a better version of last year's RPG of the Year. The premium packaging would usually infer some sort of Collector's Edition... but at the price of a regular game, it's simply a great value. In your download you'll also get: Multilingual game disc, D'jinni Adventure Editor, Two new adventures offering 5+ hours of gameplay, Official Soundtrack, Music Inspired by The Witcher album, Making-of videos, Official game guide, Map of The Witcher's world

Oh no! This site should be called you'llbebankruptinsecondsukdeals! This is another game I've been waiting ages for a price drop. Supposedly outstanding rpg. Between this, Dragon Age: Origins and about 4 other pre-orders, I'll be playing games well into the New Year!

H+r from me!

Great price indeed - adding heat and rep.

Hmm, has anyone actually been able to buy this yet? Every time I try to buy it I get a "There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance" message. It seems I'm not the only one either....

Wolverine have you tried the latest patches (1.4 and 1.5)? I used to have problems too but they pretty much disappeared after i installed 1.4. Speaking of which this deal has led me to reinstall the game after a hiatus. Can't wait to start afresh!

It should let you buy it now. I had problems earlier, and it suggested trying again later for me too.

One thing to bear in mind is that the Enhanced Edition is available as a (massive!) patch for the original game, so if you can find the original game for less (the standard price seems to be a tenner but I've seen it cheaper in various Game offers from time to time, for example) then you can upgrade it to the Enhanced Edition for free. It doesn't come with the extra physical stuff (like the map) but the enhanced game plus the bonus CDs and missions is all there.

See http://www.thewitcher.com/community/en/www/installation_of_twee_in_four_easy_steps.html

One problem is that some off-the-shelf copies don't have a manual with a CD code in them but the Atari support department is (or at least was) well aware of the issue and a quick request to them usually sorts it out.

(Edited to note that once you've applied the TWEE patch the game is then at 1.4 - there's a patch beyond that, 1.5, which mainly removes all of the DRM so no disk is needed in the drive and so forth.)

Groovy! This is on my list of ones to get when the price is right... i.e. now! :)

Only thing left to do is get made redundant so I have some actual time to play all these games I've been buying!

One of the best games in the last few years imo;-) great storyline & well worth a purchase

Cold for me.
You can buy the non enhanced edition for £9.99 at Play and download the patch for the enhanced bits for free.
Not only cheaper but you don't risk not being able to play when you don't have an internet connection (offline mode on Steam quite often decides it needs to phone home as recently happened a few hours into a two day ferry journey) and you're free to sell the game on or lend it to friends when you're done.

Hot.
Steam can have 1.50 for the convenience of auto-patching :).

If you'd rather have the game on a DVD (like I do), get it from play for 10£ and then install the patch for free!

I don't disagree with you price-wise, but at the moment, there's no telling when you might get your package...
