A collection of the best moments from the 'Ricky Gervais Show' podcasts -- the world's number one podcast -- with additional musings and original drawings by Karl Pilkington, the show's unlikely star. Karl Pilkington, the Confucian like savant of the Ricky Gervais Podcast show, has led an extraordinary and curiously individual life. As a kid growing up in Manchester he regularly missed school to accompany his parents on caravanning holidays and left without collecting his exam results: his family weaned him well. His father once crashed a train into Manchester Central Station, his mother shaved one of their cats after it kept being sick and his uncle slept in a dinghy instead of a bed -- genes, some acolytes say, which have contributed to his cryptic views on life. Pilkington's is a brilliant mind, locked inside a perfectly round head, and uncluttered by the unhelpful constraints of logic or common sense; factors that have lead him to such dazzling insights as 'you never see old men eating Twix bars' or that the 'Diary of Anne Frank' was 'an Adrian Mole sort of thing'.In this pithy and hilarious book, Karl is in conversation with (the often bewildered) Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the writers and stars of 'The Office' and 'Extras', outwitting even these comedy Goliaths with his take on such contentious issues as charity, the lack of Chinese homeless people, reincarnation, the rights of monkeys and favourite superpowers.Featuring Karl's original illustrations, imaginative scribblings and the best conversations of the first twelve podcasts, this is a unique trip into the world of one of our most innovative thinkers, visionaries and prophets, or as Gervais and Merchant know him, 'the funniest man alive in Britain today'.

Some of the best Pilkington stuff - bought this as a B'Day gift for my Dad who is impossible to buy for - he seemed to find 'An Idiot Abroad' very funny though, as did I.

Although he does remind me of my husband who seems to share the same views of life lmao

Cheers, loved the TV series and podcasts

"A collection of the best moments from the 'Ricky Gervais Show' podcasts".

It's a short book then?

Haven't voted, just my opinion that Gervais and co. are hugely overrated.

The trio are brilliant, and have been for the last 10 years.

But of course with all comedy, it's hugely about opinion. For example plenty of people seem to think Russell Howard is hilarious, yet I find him hugely unfunny and even a poor comedian.

Great spot, ordered one. Karl Pilkington is 99% idiot 1% genius.
Also has anyone else noticed they aren't using his voiceover for the freeview adverts anymore?

In the words of the orange headed genius: "you gotta have your critics"

Most of this book is just transcripts of the podcasts, worth bearing in mind if you've heard them all.

I don't see how a comedian can be overated really, you basically just mean you don't like him which is fair enough. At least he's not released his own booky wooky - now that guy is "over-rated"

EPIC! ordered

No one can deny that Gervais and idiot abroad are very popular, as are his podcasts but how he gets away with such cliched subject matter I don't really know.

Russell Howard is a dreadful comic. With Have I Got News For You in the BBC schedule, his Good News show is decidedly pedestrian. He rely's on the off the wall behavior of the people in the stories for his laughs, mixed in with some fairly crude sexual remarks at times.

Agree TonyLeMesmer and I'd suggest anyone look them up for free on Youtube (where it's even funnier listened to when listening to the man himself).

This makes a nice small gift though (in my case for a non techno-savvy parent who thinks Pilkington is funny after seeing An Idiot Abroad!). At a cost of less than a magazine - hence a bargain!?.

Definitely a good price, think I paid 6 or 7 pounds for it.

pretty much a script of the podcasts but as a massive fan of the podcasts and with a lot of spare time on my hands it makes for a very good read, heat added!
