I've ha a very bad experience with Select Specs. I ordered some glasses for my son while he is away at university. They replied a week later to say they could not supply to his prescription. They had let me select his prescription online??

Then when i ordered some form yself it did not ask me for the delivery address and when the order confirmation came through they were going to send them to my son! I emiled then multiple times but they still ended up sending the specs to my son. They dont have a phone number! Now have to wait until Christmas to get them.........
The pictures of the glasses are really poor, it's hard to see what you'd be buying. I know the glasses are cheap but they could have made bit more of an effort!
the voucher code doesnt work :(

Just had this email from The Spectacle Case... used them before and great service. The owner is a Dispensing Optician and will deal with any queries in person. Good reassurance that it is not another

Just had the email below: Basically the cheapest is £18 for 2 pairs plus £3 delivery which is still cheaper than 'glasses direct' as their lenses do not include anti-scratch coating! I have used th…

is a good deal but not much choice for that price compared to the £10 range at glasses direct

True but this code allows 25% off the entire range whereas glasses direct is on selected items only.
I have just treated my wife to a new pair of rimless specs with anti scratch coating delivered to my door for £40.50. The cheapest on the high street was Specsavers which for the same costs over £150.00!!!!
Saving over 70% surely must be a hot deal?:whistling:

Just for the fun of it, I entered my specs details exactly the same as for my purchase with goggles4u.com and the price came out as £86.80, this was £60 more than I paid for basically the same frame.

not sure what you bought but for £9.60 for basic lenses with anti-scratch coating you can't really go wrong. My opticians wanted £15 extra on top of frame and lenses just for the coating :giggle:

All of these websites are good, I can only vouch for The Spectacle Case as I have received the product and am happy with the service.

It may have been better to have amended your previous spectacle case deal you posted to include the discount codes.....

Just to add my bit to this ... I ordered a pair of single vision glasses from GlassesDirect on the 16th and they arrived today. I was pleasantly surprised - actually I am pretty chuffed with them. They look even better than I imagined and fit perfectly (I spent a fair amount of time measuring my old glasses trying to figure out the right size frames to opt for).

Anyway, I was £15.75 (after postage and the CLUB TOYOTA discount). I would say that the paper brochure gives more info on the size of frames than the website, so it might be a useful thing to get hold of if you're using GlassesDirect.co.uk. I notice that Goggles4U and other places seem to list more info about sizing actually on their websites.

I'll certainly be opting for buying online in the future. It's all good for me because my eye test is free (up here in Scotland).

I felt very smug telling my mum about my swanky new 15 quid specs when hers cost her closer to £400!

Good for you. What's the Toyota discount?

 been offline a few days... anyway, I said I would report on the specs bought from http://www.thespectaclecase.co.uk/
They arrived on Saturday and they look great. The vision is perfect (had an eye test last month) so all in all very pleased and saved a fortune! My local opticians wanted a fortune... these cost just £13.30 delivered! (£11.80 plus delivery)

Quick suggestion about the sunnies....
Check out a UK firm called NotDesigner. They take great pains to explain they're not selling fakes, they're selling glasses that look similar in style to branded products. (They're still running a BOGOF offer for the rest of this month).

Interesting site but not after sunglasses just prescription glassess ta
If you already have a pair of glasses with the correct prescription then it would be noticable if the new ones were incorrect. I don't think any glasses are made up by qualified opticians, the prescription is done by them but not the glasses. When you pick them up from Boots its not the optician that checks if they fit okay but the other staff. I thought it was worth the risk. My rimless ones were around £35, Boots were quoting £250.....
