Seem very slow to me @ 4x speed. Last time I bought was Philips 16x RW for 40p per disk (but can't remember where from)

these are RW

x4 is good

Mine are RW's too (re-writables) but 16x. I didn't know they still make those slow discs.

I didn't know that 16x DVD ReWritables were in existence!

me neither! Used 4x rws for years but thankfully now I no longer have any need for them thanks to my wdtv box :)
I only use DVD-RW's for playing Xvid files or temporary data storage. Synching is not a problem. My notebook writes 8x but desktop writes 16x. Problems only arise when people don't update their writer firmware (which in 99% is the reason for "disc failure" complaints in user feedback on amazon and play).

You can get 50 dvd rw 16x for less than £7.

i think people here are confusing dvd-rws with dvd-rs

you will not find a burner in the world that will burner at 16x rw dvd mode anyways (cd-rw yes up to 48x i think is the max).. and even if you do find such a burner, you will desync any video dvd to the point ware its unwatchible since the rest of the computers hardware wont be able to keep the video together moving that faster (unless your computers cpu/memory/hard drive came from the future anyways lol)

i doubt any rws are 16x (maybe cd-rw but those aint really used any more)

and slow speeds as you point is of 4x are still made since A if you write a video dvd faster than the computers harddrive can handle it will get really desynced on play back (why most people that do burn video dvds and use 16x dvds will set a write speed cap of 8x) B even most of the latest dvd burns have a max speed of 8x for rws so why make a faster dvd rw than the burners can handle (below are dvd-rw/cd-rw write max speeds for the avg high end spec burners)

DVD+RW 8x max.
DVD+RW 6x max.
CD-RW 32x max.

same cancelled annoying! how can you not have stock control!
I had mine cancelled too. They said payments will be refunded within 5 day. Found an 8gb stick on amazon for £5.15 delivered
I am thinking no one received their order, let's hope no-one purchased anything else from them. Probably a price error or intended for folk to order other stock that is available.
bloody ****!! waste of time.

CELERON processor...hence the cheap price guys! Seems like a good site though and I'm lucky to have an NHS worker in the house! :)
yes, sorry about that lol. i was thinking of a netbook, i apologise sincerely!

A notebook is a laptop, you're probably thinking of a netbook?
it's not a laptop! it says in the description it's a notebook. not your fault gemmyw, just pointing it out so people know, it caught me out! "A good ultraportable notebook will combine great mobility, marathon battery life and useful features. With the Toshiba T110 that’s exactly what you get..."

Pj550 is the best out of the bunch, this is just the lowest model, go for the panasonic veira on Dixons instead
Go for a PJ550 or PJ650 series instead for not much more, as this set cannot do divx playback via USB.

Is it just me or does anyone else think it is a little deceptive to say "Freeview HD Ready" as it could imply the TV has Freeview HD?Should it read "32" Freeview, HD Ready LCD TV". Does anyone else agree with me on this?

A Tory pulling someone up for being deceptive-oh the irony!

Politics now? How to start an argument
Anyway, where have the Tories been deceptive? They've adapted for debts that were not disclosed.
No choice. I'm gonna get shafted as is my pension but better that in the short term than everything collapsing

As if the NHS wasn't facing enough CUTS!!!!
Actually the NHS aren't facing any cuts, their budget has been ring fenced. Not that government funding has anything to do with this private company's offer to NHS employees. I also don't see why a hospital consultant earning £90k + a year should get any discount on anything.
You'll find that all NHS trusts are trying to find substantial savings as the costs of providing healthcare are likely to increase by £20 billion over the next 3 or 4 years...... and any additional money announced in the budget will probably not cover the redundancy payments and restructuring costs. The restructuring has resulted in some of the PCTs making 40-50% of their staff redundant

As for the NHS discounts scheme no money comes out of the NHS for this - it is simply a bunch of retailers who offer discounts to NHS employees because its such a large organisation but most of the time you can find better deals by shopping around.

HD ready it quite simply a lower resolution, which means a lesser picture (depending on the source of the video).
Full HD is 1080p which means it has 1080 vertical lines of pixels and "p" means progressive scan which flashes each image on the screen in one go rather than "i" which is interlaced, where odd lines are updated then even lines in turn at a higher refresh rate. If you're going to be sitting up close to a screen, ie for PC use, I'd suggest getting an "i" model as it's less harsh on the eyes.
