That is the cheapest this boxset has been . £5 for the original and £1.99 for the new one. Heat given.

Yes, you're correct the true original was released in 1951. My error.

Okay (_;)

I would rephrase but am unable to edit the title. Not watched the recent 2011 version so had no idea it was a prequel. Hollywood honestly just wanted an excuse to make it a prequel instead of going by the horror term "remake" and yet ride the coattails of the successful 1982 version and ironically use the same title.

Should have called the 2011 movie:

"The thing that wasn't as good as the thing".

Both really good movies alot better than some reviews suggest. It shows the Norwegian side of things just before the 1982 film, you have to watch the end credits as it will all come together.

Worth a watch if you enjoyed the 1982 version.

Many like myself call it a 'premake'. It was both a prequel and a remake in all honesty.

Neither were remakes. Carpenter's just happens to be based on the same novella 'Who Goes There?'.

I agree. You can't really call the 82 version a remake of The Thing from Another World. Carpenter's The Thing is a re-imagining of the same source material.

82 version is superb. Really tense right to the end. Some suspect effects by todays standards but for 82, brilliant. One of my favourite films. Great sound track as well so make sure you crank it up!
