This is an amazing special edition Buzz Lightyear toy from Thinkway's "Toy Story Collection" range. This baby is £50 in the disney store (its retail in the US is $65 so i'm guessing thats retail here) and the next cheapeast is over at play.com for £47.99 (www.play.com/Toys/Toys/4-/11500470/Toy-Story-Buzz-Lightyear-Deluxe-Film-Replica/Product.html) so this is a big saving! Toys R Us is offering a much more inferior Buzz toy more akin to the original 90s version for the same price (http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Toys/Action-Figures-and-Playsets/Toy-Story-12-Space-Flight-Buzz-Lightyear(0028323) ), so this really is a great deal (maybe a miss price? I've seen this in store and is also that price, so maybe not). Comes in authentic Buzz Lightyear box like in the film and has a certificate of authenticity.

This range provides the most film accurate representations of the toy characters from Toy Story. These have been lovingly designed in dialouge with the creative minds at Pixar and have many many more features than any other Buzz Lightyear toys. The wings fold up like in the film, and have lights at the end! It is more possable, has real rubbery torso, head moves while talking. Here are the full features:

* In Talk Back Mode, Buzz talks back and moves his head when you speak to him
* 65 sayings in original voice
* Press buttons to hear ''Buzz Toy'' phrases and Space Ranger phrases
* Open helmet or communication panel to hear related phrases and sound effects
* Press button for flying mode and pop-out wings with light-up tips
* Level sensor knows when Buzz is in a horizontal flying position or standing and responds with specific phrases
* Poseable fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, waist, ankles, knees and legs
* ''Laser'' button activates forearm light and sound effects
* Buzz knows when you're shouting and responds!
* Film accurate paint details, using original Disney/Pixar digital data files
* Glow-in-the-dark green trim
* Plastic/rubber
* 12'' H
* Requires 3 AA batteries, included for demonstration only
* Ages 4+
* Includes Certificate of Authenticity
* Part of the Toy Story Collection

This is NOT the same as other, cheaper models and is far superior and a collectors item. This is the toy i always wanted when i first saw the film when i was 9, so i'm sure any child would love this for Christmas. At this price, you can't leave it behind!

This is an excellent item... This is what the buzz toy should have been.

Hot.

I know! I remember loving my buzz toy, but always wishing it was more like the one from the film. This really is as close as you can possibly get (no arm chop action, but doubt it would work well with the lazer built in the arm!)

How do you know this is the more expensive model, as your photo is not the same as on the John Lewis website, and the 'Space Flight' Buzz Lightyear is the same price elsewhere, e.g. Argos?

i want to get this for my nephew but he is only 9 months old lol

My son will love opening this on christmas morning!

morettat: John Lewis' description is very poor, but hopefully the following evidance will make clear this is indeed the 'Toy Story Collection' Buzz:

Firstly, in the picture it is clear that the wings have lights on the ends and fold in and down, like in the film but unlike the cheaper buzz figures that simply pop out a bit and don't have lights.
Secondly, the description says that Buzz 'knows when your talking' and 'responds'. This is an interactive feature only present in the special edition Buzz. Also true of the communicator/helmet phrase feature (basicly, when the communicator is open, Buzz will say related phrases etc) mentioned in the decription is also exclusive to this item.
Also, note that the US Disney Store site uses the same picture as John Lewis for this item and is certainly the one in the box pictured.
Finally, i have seen this item instore (in Liverpool) for this price so am certain they are offering this item at this price. If you do get another cheaper version, you certainly would have grounds for a refund as, although the description is lacking, it is still made clear that this is the collectors version.

Hope this clears things up.

Just been to the Liverpool 1 store and bought one, the disney store (which is really close to it) has Woody and Buzz for £50 each and John Lewis only had Buzz and only one left on the shelf (maybe more in the back, I did not ask) but this is a bargain, excellent find!

This baby is £50 in the disney store

lol, everything is expensive in the disney store!!
#9
Anyone seen a cheap Woody?

Play also has this item for £47.99 and says its retail is £49.99. Even though i agree Disney store can be over-expensive, it is clear this items retail is around £50 and so John Lewis is providing a great deal for a new, special edition, item.

Not seen any Woody's unfortunantly as thats the one i'm really after!
