THIRTEEN GHOSTS, Steve Beck's feature debut, is the second recent remake (following THE HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL) of a film by 1950s and 60s camp horror king, William Castle. Arthur Kriticos (Tony Shalhoub) is a financially strapped widower struggling to raise two children, Kathy (Shannon Elizabeth) and Bobby (Alec Roberts), after losing his wife in a house fire. A stroke of apparent luck arrives when Arthur learns he has inherited a mansion from his mysterious Uncle Cyrus (F. Murray Abraham). Ecstatic, Arthur whisks the kids and nanny, Maggie (Rah Digga) off to their new home, a bizarre glass and steel structure with strange Latin inscriptions carved on the walls. The family is thrilled, until a psychic and former employee of Cyrus', Rafkin (Matthew Lillard), reveals that Arthur's departed uncle was a power hungry ghost collector who captured twelve spirits in the house. Arthur is skeptical. But when his children disappear, and Rafkin gives him a pair of special glasses that allow him to view the house's gruesome inhabitants, he believes. In Beck's special effects-laden gore-fest, the two men race against time to find the children as the house's strange internal mechanism begins sealing off the exits and freeing the angry ghosts.

Oct 2005

A family inherits a spectacular old house from an eccentric uncle (Abraham). There's just one problem: the house seems to have a dangerous agenda all its own. Trapped in their new home by strangely shifting walls, a father (Shalhoub) and his children encounter powerful and vengeful entities that kill anyone in their path. Soon the family is joined by an offbeat ghost hunter who is determined to free the spirits imprisoned in the house. Caught in a frantic race to save themselves before it is too late, the human inhabitants realize the house is a machine built by the mad uncle to unleash the dark powers of the underworld. This is a remake of the 1960 horror film from the king of horror gimmicks, director William Castle (The House on Haunted Hill).

i actually found this fairly horrifying.. in particular, someone getting crushed between 2 clear walls.. blah.
Not a bad film, but Matthew Lillards characters voice makes me want to kick my TV in !

You wouldn't if you had a decent plasma

Good film, i've already got it
For a horror fan that's hard to please I actually enjoyed this film; plenty of imaginative gore and an actual plot which is always a plus. Well worth £2.99, if I didn't already have it I'd buy it for sure so heat added
i had to buy this second hand off ebay for this much a month ago so i think this is a great price!!
This film sh1t me up big style
This movie is terrible, i wouldnt pay £1 for it
have to agree.. pile of s**t
This movie is up there with Highlander 2 and Transformers 2, shocking in all the wrong ways.
I love and hate scary films, and now I choose not to watch them as I am such a scardy! I'm still haunted by some of the "ghosts" in this, the scary green thing with cage on it's head............oh god don't bear thinking about! Aghhh!. It was scary and jumpy but had a decent story for a horror film. I'd recommend if you like this sort of thing, good price!

I was more scared watching my router link blink.
I quite liked this film especially because it had Tony Shalhoub in it :]
My wife's favourite, check out the character bios on the special features it explains so much more than the movie can in 90mins.

At least this movie had someone craft a decent backstory to pad out the action (unlike saw/transformers2/etc)

Don't take my word for it though, I thought Speed Racer was excellent!
I rate this film and will prob buy to add to collection!!

Thanks for posting.
