Dhb Elsted Small Travel Bag

Its not a mainstream shop to most - as it mainly sells cycling kit. I have used them often and cannot fault them.

Dnb is Wiggle's own brand.

Wiggle often sent out discount codes with purchases for you to send to friends or use yourself - so this may drop the price more if some are posted that no one is using. Additionally for regular customers - your previous years spend discount will be applicable. Its also worthwhile trying a quick search on the internet for their codes - as they are often posted in cycling forums.

Have looked on the IKEA site, cannot see much in the way of luggage and nothing at that price. Do you have any further details please

I too would be interested in hearing more on that.. as it stands I am tempted by this deal as I'm lacking in the hand luggage department.

I'd have one if the flamin' airlines would standardise on one size.

I'm more likely to use Jet2 and they only allow 46 x 30 x 23cm which is enough for one sock and a couple of packs of dried peas. :?

Coldfinger
For info: Jet2 website give carry on bag size not in excess of 50x38x26cm- every little helps!

£5 voucher is only on a £50 spend. Still a good buy, just ordered one.

Well someone mentioned you had the size wrong there... but I use a rucksack. For a start they are lighter but they also can squash into any of those airline racks if not packed to bursting. You tend to be able to get more in too as there no room taken up by the wheel mechanism. My girlfriend prefers the wheeled hard case though - but she does struggle on stairs. I'm such a gentleman! :)

This bag isn't cheap but it makes up for it in being the exact size so you get the most volume, and weighing only 750g you don't lose a lot of your 10kg allowance. It also folds flat into it's own pocket.

Medium size foldaway
This very popular cabin bag weighs less than 750g bag is fully compliant with the size limits of Easyjet and Ryanair set at 55 x 40 x 20 cms and is also acceptable to all the major airlines as well. Capacity 44 litres.

The company is flylite, and they sell direct. http://www.flylite.uk.com/Lightweight-Luggage-Solutions.aspx They do other sizes and shapes as well.

I bought two recently for my wife and daughter to travel to Ireland with Ryanair. At £20 each the bags were 1000 times more than the 4p cost of their flights but at least we were sure they wouldn't get caught out on the size allowance.

Another thought. It might be worth checking that the Wiggle and any other case dimensions include wheels/handles etc. They don't always and they could end up being refused at the check-in. If that happens the charge for taking them in the hold can be far more than booking hold luggage in the first place.

The flylite bag just has soft handles so you do have to carry it, but consequently it's lighter and you can use all the space.
#10
Brilliant. Just bought one.
#11
Have been looking for this sort of thing for ages. Just ordered. Don't forget Quidco as well.
#12
Agree its a good find but beware this and the Flylite one above do not "technically" meet Flybe's limits which are "Length 50cm, width 35cm and depth of 23cm including wheels, handles, side pockets etc." if you are likely to use them.

You also need to be careful that the sizes given are for an empty bag. Fill it up, and put things in the front pockets, and the depth of the bag will increase significantly.

I got myself a Antler cabin bag from Makro for £9.99 plus vat, this does seem a bit steep to be honest.

where did you get the weight of 750g from? the post says 2.5kg
#17
I picked up a decent suitcase for £8 for sports-something..... world maybe. Has served me well so far.
#18
I flew from Birmingham the other week with Ryanair and they were checking everyones bags, making sure they fit into the frame. Nearly most of the trolly dolly type bags failed because their is no give in them. But all holdall type bags got through because of the flexability.

have u ever thought wot BS the whole weight limit is? ever thought how come a 20 stone man`s limit is the same as yours and yet he is double your weight???....lol

Am i missing something as the voucher only appears to be valid for orders over £50 ?

You're right it doesn't seem to be on their website, but it is instore. The last three times I've been into the Croydon branch, there's hundreds of them stacked up near the cafe area.

I've used them on a Ryanair flight, no problem, the measurements are spot on. Cost £8.80, have wheels, extendable handle and fold flat for easy storage, bargain.

This statement is only true for 10 stone people! :-D

RYANAIR ALLOWANCE IS 55 x 40 x 20cm

This is the same for most airlines. Bags should be able to fit in the lockers above the seats. Where Ryanair are unique is the weight limit of 10kilos - Easyjet does not state a maximum weight
#24
I've got this bag, well different colour and used it weekly for the last year with both ryanair and easyjet. Never had any problems with size. It is well made and is a good size to get enough in for a weekend away.
Its not the cheapest but well worth the money, I paid much more than this from mine a year ago from Wiggle.
Depends how often you travel, but you get what you pay for !!
#25
Sorry ,but cold for me as the bag weighs 2.5kgs, a Quarter of your 10kg allowance !
If your taking cabin luggage only, this is a better buy from amazon - see link below.

It is not just about the weight increasing fuel costs. The limit is partly there as bags have to be lifted and fit into the overhead lockers. In an emergency, the bag might need to be shifted by a steward/ess. If you had unlimited weight this could cause problems.

I'm pretty sure I've seen these in the IKEA Family section (in some rather fluorescent colours !).

I bought this one here from Argos

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0756206/Trail/searchtext%3EANTLER.htm

Although it says depth 23cm. I am able to squeeze it to the 20 cm limit. While it says as weight 2.5 kilogramm I cant believe this as it seems really lightweight.

PS.: Also in the reviews it says that it fits into the Easyjet cage....
#32
Got one like this from Tescos for £7.50 - have used it several times on Ryanar flights

Speak for yourself. I'm much more happily endowed.
#34
have you looked at Debenhams at the 'TRIPP' range
#35
this isnt actually a good deal...There are loads of cheaper alternatives, but its a nice idea for a thread seen as ryanair screw everyone on luggage, i think its 35 pounds for a suitcase that is over the size limit so anything under that is a saving i suppose.

Try sportsworld they have dunlop suitcase things that although not at the absolute limit of the ryanair carry on limit are still decent enough and cost under 15 quid.
#36
I have this, the larger one and a DHB bike bag all from wiggle and all are superb, very good value for money and great quality.

This one has a slightly short handle for me at 6ft3 but it's a very minor inconvenience.
#37
scoff

I measured this bag the other day before flying to Heathrow and on to Milan and it was bang on size wise within the restrictions for BMI which are apparently the commonly used ones.

It fitted in the frame at the check in desk, however at the departure gate it wouldn't fit in the frame, so some of the BMI frames are the wrong sizes! take a tape measure lol
#38
Great post
#39
See the problem with buying this bag is that Ryanair could turn around tomorrow and in typical Ryanair fashion say they are reducing the baggage allowance size and insisting all bags are bright green. :p

No (it's probably something like the flugglebonk! :-D ), but I can tell you the product number:
300.994.48 as I've got mine right here ready for a trip.

Maybe give your Ikea branch a ring to see if they do them. :)
