‘Cage-free’ means only that the animals are not in cages; beyond that, anything goes, and the animals are often crammed inside faeces-ridden sheds, with no ability to engage in any natural behaviours, for their entire lives. ‘Free-range’ birds also generally spend the majority (if not all) of their lives inside a dark shed with thousands of other birds. These sheds have ‘popholes’ which allow birds access to the outside and the producers to label their eggs ‘free-range’.

If u want Totally FREE RANGE, buy a Chicken and let it run about your garden all day and night and lay its eggs... Then u have free range... but with the cats in your area, i give it 1 hr lol

GET A GRIP!!!! Its A CHICKEN & i love CHICKEN & EGGS wherever they have come from... 95% of the time, they come from abroad & no UK, as they can then get away with the pathetic EURO & UK laws we have....

50p.. Excellent, HOT HOT HOT.. and that's not the chicken cooking HOT STYLE!!!

What a load of ****!!! Not everyone can afford free range you know & if you cared that much about the bloody chickens welfare-you wouldn't eat the egg at all..Most so called "free range" hens only go outside in a very small area for a limited time each day anyway. If you are stupid enough to pay for that marketing gimmick-more fool you..

Do the 50p deals start today?

why not buy from local farms if you can afford free range? they're cheaper and you know they're free range, and you're supporting local farms!!

there are nicer ways to say that you believe someone's animal welfare concerns to be misplaced...

'stupid' 'fool' 'bloody chickens' 'what a load of ****' - you sound like you're a bit stressed out and could do with some free ranging in the fresh air.

Does this start today or tomorrow?

smart price eggs - im guessing won't be free range.

But for you people that just dont care, then well more fool you !

Yes free range eggs are more expensive, and no i don't have loads of money, but i still buy them but you know what i will do ,..... i will have 1 egg instead of 2 ! WOW what a crazy idea.

Stop being so greedy and have some respect !

Yes totally agree with above comments from doivey.

I expect that the comment 'are the eggs free range "please don't buy if caged"'. Was written in good faith and most non egotistical people would understand that, likewise

'Stop being so greedy and have some respect ! '.

Can't do the shopping until next monday, will these still be on then?
#16
I bet these deals wont be as good as morrisons price crunch asda is just using very cheap stuff like smart price eggs but when you go to morrisons you get stuff that is knocked down from nearly £2 to 50p so much better deals.

Not entirely true. They had stuff like celery from 69p to 50p, Most items at morrisons were also only 50p off at the most, with very few large savings. Each supermarket deal should be taken as a seperate entity. Afterall your not going to travel 30 miles to an asda to potentially save a couple of quid when you have a Morrisons etc next door and vice versa. As they say every penny helps for those who shop at Asda.

well said, i wish people would stop telling us what eggs to buy !!

buying free range eggs does not help me pay the bills on time!

Can I taste the difference between the eggs ?? no not really. . . .

Last time they had this type of offer on I called in on my way home from work at 4am on the Saturday morning, they had all the stock on sale apart from the mince (I didn't get any as they had none left when I went back late afternoon). I would assume that it starts early Saturday.

Been to Asda this afternoon and all the offers are on sale.

The 2 pint milk is 50p as stated and the 4 pint is £1.

Honest to god, if you watch that programme it will make you question what you eat.... I knew kebabs are full of crud but I like the (artificial) taste..... lets say that now I KNOW what they contain and I think I will steer clear!!!! Think its on again next Thursday night at about 12am ish on BBC three..... check it out but NOT while you're eating :p

This 50p deals thread is turning into the great free range or not egg debate.
Can't we just leave it out.
I'm sure most people are aware of what happens at the farms...

Some very good deals here

IM SURE MOST DONT!!!!!! Cheap food tends to be cheap for a reason, no problem in highlighting this to others who may not be aware. How many replies do you expect about cheap food anyway?!?!? You can see the topic, its self explanatory and if people want to discuss the actual QUALITY then they can unless thats another thing thats been banned on here (in addition to walking, sleeping and breathing!?!?!). Can those who dont want to read unassociated posts not just ignore them!?!?!?

Why not just let people eat what you want? Personally I wouldn't touch these eggs or the mince but that's my choice. However, not everyone can afford free range eggs.
