Setanta are the worst company on the planet if you ever join them you will find it very hard to leave. I cant tell whether this deal means signing up with Setanta or it's just a freebie (i.e. no signup / giving them payment details) for 10 months. If it's the latter then it's a great deal if not then I'd not touch it with a bargepole!

Better if you give a direct link
All I could find is this one with only a 30-day trial
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thomson-Top-Up-TV-Freeview/dp/B000TVHZLC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1218533755&sr=8-1
The one with the 10 month Season Ticket was listed here previously at £109.99 (rated -241)
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/222614/free-setanta-for-the-season-with-pu/

Before deciding look at the negative comments there and on the Amazon website http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/product/B000TVHZLC/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?%5Fencoding=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

cant you just give them notice and cancel your direct debit?

hey on the website of http://www.topuptv.com/buynow/index.html it says: † £20 connection fee included in price of box

i'm confused now...
#7
I know its a bit confusing....you buy the box but I don't know if you have to buy direct from top up tv to get the free month, you also get top up anytime for a month along with setanta, and must cancel after 31 days, otherwise you will be charged for a month, but this does not affect the Setanta deal, you will still get the 9 months free so dont need to subscribe to top up TV to continue with the Setanta deal

However, I would of thought as you subscribe through TUTV you can un-subscribe through TUTV as well so don't need to deal direct with Setanta

You get the top up anytime connection for free. £20 still applies for setanta.

Incidently this box isn't reviewed very favourably. I'm looking for one at the mo

I just tried to subscribe despite reading all the nightmare stories and a previous bad experiance personally with Setanta. I tried only because it is the only way to get Arsenal TV.

After getting though and asking to subscribe my details where taken down only to then be told they are having problems with the signal in my area and I need to phone CS.

Sounded like cobblers to me and the operator didn't even know what he was doing or how to connect me.

I said forget it and taken the CS number incase I changed my mind.

In the end I tried Customer services despite knowing I was paying 10p/min for the priveledge of having to be on hold for ages to give them 'my custom & business'. I finally get through and explain everything. The CS sounded like he was lost and didn't know what he was doing. He mumble something (sounded offensive) and blatantly hung up on me!!!!!!! All I asked was to be subscribed :(

Now did I have a lucky escape from Setanta by their incompetance in not knowing how to subsribe/connect me?

Who do these guys employee...... they are losing business due to their staff not knowing how to do anything and being damn right rude. Their base of operations but be a holiday camp for the local teenagers or something. A place to go where you have a laugh, pick up the phone now and then and hang up. then go home with a pay packet?!?!?!? Sounds that way!

WHY ARE COMPANIES CONNECTING THEMSELVES TO SETANTA like Arsenal TV. The bad reputation is something Setanta are bringing about and If I was Arsenal Tv I wouldnt want it rubbing off onto my business!

what area are you in? and are you talking about signing up to setanta directly OR for this offer through topuptv?
#12
Dealing directly. In the end everyone will have to deal with them directly at some point... but wait.... I hear they have no 'direct'. their CS team is contracted out to two different firms lol.

It is a simple point of Setanta staff do not work directly for Setanta... if they can't be arsed to help you they will hang up or state your sub is cancelled and when you hang up they will not action the cancellation as it is too much bother for them at their 'holiday camp'

I work for comet and these boxes come back every day
#16
anyone knows if the card that comes with the box can be used with a sky standard box? i know there is a spare card slot on the sky box so i'm thinking of getting it and use it on the sky box instead if that is possible.. anyone?
#17
its not a sky box, its a freeview box so the sky box wouldnt recognise the card.

Deception, hassle, frustration, untrained staff, blagged, excessive phone costs, appalling customer service = Setanta, the most disgraceful company ever.

Check out the reviews on Amazon before you buy - 42 out of 105 reviews gave it 1 star.
I had one of these for a short while last year before returning it and buying a sagem, I wasn't interested in the Setanta options and as a PVR it was just too noisy for me.

The box is nopw on its way back it froze time after time. The top up tv people even expected me to pay the postage - not a chance - you want the box you come and get it..............:x :x :x :x :x

Something of this size I believe you have a right to tell them to organise their own pick up delivery service when a best time is appropriate for you. As far as I understand it at least so don't quote me. So you have every right to stand your ground and insist they collect the faulty goods as they failed to provide the service/goods you paid for.
