Have just tried all the stores in Manchester and "no stock" :(
sounds like a gr8 deal as i also wanted to try out setanta

Does it come with a card slot? I think this would be needed to view sentanta... Oh wait, yes it is.

Better to order this from John Lewis as you get a 2 year warrenty and can also use a £10 off voucher to make it £90

It does have a free trial, but not for the sentanta sports, you get a free month of top-up tv and the picture box movie channel. They charge you £29.99 for two months in advance for both of these channels. You have to cancel before the end of the trial to get a refund of the charge. I've just this minute done mine, and yes it does come with a card slot. It's a bit cheeky charging if you ask me, but ok I guess as long as you remember to cancel!

Fair enough I guess... as long as £29.99 is refunded :)

we'll see, I'll let you know if I have to fight for it back at the end of the trial lol. Over all it's a nice little box, you can go wrong for £99.99.

You should be John Lewis master then :-D

The 160GB hard disk drive gives you around 20hrs of personal storage, with the rest allocated to Top Up TV Anytime downloads.

Only 20 hours of normal Freeview recording?

That may be a deal killer unless there is a way around it.

I think i might change it!

It's only 20 hours if you pay to use top up tv, as this is downloaded onto the drive and you pick what you want to watch, if you just use the freeview, its 160 hours.
#17
Edi, do you wanna repost this as a John Lewis deal?

Sorry, you are right about being able to record more than 20 hours of normal Freeview but you have to alter the settings yourself

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=589317

You can't record 160 hours though, it seems normal Freeview recording will be llimited to 70 to 80 hours depending upon the stations you record (see above digital spy thread for more details and explanation).

Don't have one but by reading around you unselect all the top up channels and that increases the space available to the other Freeview channels

It's mentioned on Digitalspy

Hi Edi, Good find. Good price. Wonder whether this is a better buy than the Sagem that Argos are selling for £99.99 also?. Guess that it is a better buy as this one's Top-Up TV. The Sagem isn't. These PVRs are really coming down in price. Can't afford a Humax or Topfield but would like to know for certain whether these do indeed record on two tuners concurrently. Anyone have any ideas?.

Thank you.

P.S. Voted hot!.

Can you provide some feedback pls ? :)

Seconded.

I do like the John Lewis terms though. They seem quite easy on returns, paying for it etc. and if there is a problem with the box, it will become clear in 30 days.

Main issue we will face is the over air update and when this is, as the versions they sell may probably not have the latest software.

I check out the following site regularly to see if a download is due:

http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/download_schedule.pl

From experience with various boxes, Sony are doing monthly updates on the PVR 500. This sorted out the problem with the EPG and made it whisper quiet. I had to wait 3-4 months for Digifusion update to fix various problems. The latest schedule includes some fixes for other PVRs.
