It's a good deal, but beware:
Thorntons is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get...

Was posted yesterday when it was £10 and then expired when it went to £15.
There was a warning in that post that some may have Best Before date of end of Feb at the earliest if you were thinking of hanging onto them for a certain occasion etc.

Will it be like the Xmas hampers people were buying before Xmas, that were nothing like the description and had loads of toffees in.

Might find not everything is short dated, but those made with cream really probably need to be swallowed down pretty quick, I'm sure four of us will manage no problem, it won't all be toffee. Last years one was a good mix something for everyone and plenty for those of us who eat anything ( well I don't really like Turkish delight)
Ordered yesterday but after the price had gone up :(

Dont forget topcashback and quidco

I think Thornton's chocolates are fairly average these days. I remember when they first became popular they were so much nicer than a normal box of chocs, but now, well, they are just chocolates, nothing special.

I went into Hotel Chocolat the other day and they were giving out samples. Now that is superb chocolate. Absolutely gorgeous. But it's not cheap :-(

This is a good price though so I am voting hot. Thanks OP.

It would take my wife and myself around 4 years (not a typo) to eat our way through this lot and so a sell by date of Feb 2011 makes it an absolute No-No for us. :D

Voted hot though as it seems like a real bargain if you happen to have shares in Weight Watchers and your Dentist. :p

It seems a bit suspicious that the best before date is just before Valentine's Day. My (perhaps cynical) guess is that they're dated that way so that people won't be able to buy them cheap now and give them as Valentine's gifts -- unless they don't mind looking like cheapskates who give out of date chocolates as a gift.

oh god what have I done! 2 kilos of Chocolate xD

I think that's February 2011 rather than the 11th February

No - 2 kilos of chocolate and toffee. Or - more likely - toffee and chocolate.

Anyone who had dealings with Thorntons just before Christmas isn't going to trust them with this one, given that the toffee/chocolate mix is left entirely to them.

Dont care what the expiry is my hubby will be getting thorn tons choccies for valentines day, and I bet he won't even think to look at the date hehee
Actually 2kg won't turn out to be that much after a birthday and valenties day removed, then two starving kids and chocolate fiend husband and me, just hurry up and get them here :)
Hotel chocolate is good but not significantly better and as for the prices even reduced they make your eyes water

Good point, I didn't look at the Thornton's site as I'm trying to resist ordering. I stand corrected and won't be so cynical in future.

These are the Christmas chocs, flavours like mulled wine - :p
#29
Is this still available as I can't seem to find it on the website?
#30
Ohhh, why oh why did you post this?! Tempted to vote cold on behalf of my hips :P great deal!

#32
Great, thats Valentines pressie now sorted 8)

Agree with Bigsky, Thorntons is just average nowadays. Hotel Chocolat sells quality chocolate but it is more expensive - worth it in my opinion.

I'd go further than that.

Thorntons is now a very boring brand, with a boring range of mediocre chocolates. The quality of the chocolate is no better than any of the cheaper brands, and the Continental chocolates are little better than Cadburys Roses - which isn't saying much.

Hotel Chocolat are rather better, but at a price - time for a trip to Bruges. (_;)

sod it ...order it now :)

Got mine today - chocs only. Bearing in mind these were half price in many supermarkets before Christmas I feel this wasn't anywhere near as hot as the 368 degrees it reached - won't bother next time.
