Thorntons misshapes Home Bargains 350g £0.99

Just been into Home Bargains today and picked these up thinking they looked liked Thorntons (they don't say on the packet) and sure enough after testing they definately are. These are £1.99 online for 200g on Thorntons website. I've not posted much before but these seem like a bargain to me. End date on them is May 2011.

Wrong #2! They are definitely Thorntons! Some of the sweets have the 't' embossed on them.
#3
The packet isn't trying to look like Thorntons??!!! I have no doubt that they are Thorntons and would be interested to see if anyone else has bought them and tried them? There is a lot of Thorntons stock in Home bargains at the minute so I don't see why they wouldnt have these also?

Thanks ellbee

They are not trying to be Thorntons, but they have been certainly known to have Thorntons rejects within them in the past. Always nice choccies for that price though.

Yes I can confirm These are Thorntons been buying them for about 2 years now.Not a new product suprised this hasn't already been posted years ago.
They have the same factory postcode on the back.
HB sell other labelled thorton products so any doubting Thomas's can compare &
Confirm they are Thortons.

#11
Is this most stores?? :)
#12
Yes definitely Thorntons, my mum buys them and I pick out all of the lemon mousse chocolates mmmmmmm
#13
Yes, deff. Thorntons. :)
#14
had a bag of these before but won't buy anymore as all I got were the horrible cream ones that were all busted & stuck together YUK!!
#15
Might have to nip into home bargains as there's a few deals on here that I want from there.

It's a pity it's a 20 mile trek plus parking.

Thanks though OP. Voted Hot.

I know about this, but still prefer to buy the proper ones directly from Thorntons. I find the extra couple of quid helps me from becoming such a fat b*gger.
#17
Feel a trip coming on lol

That's why you select the best packs and don't get the ones all glooped together...
#19
I would say they look and taste like the real deal as I love my continental collection. You just have to chose a pack that looks like it has a decent variety in
#20
Definately Thorntons. Have had quite a few of these over the last few years

Where on earth do you live? We had a couple of stores near my house, both within a mile of each other up until a few months ago. Suppose that's the benefit of living in Happy Halifax

Bit of an odd question but does anyone know where the cocoa is sourced from with Thorntons chocies?

After finding out about the horrors that go on in the Ivory coast, where most of the worlds cocoa comes from, I've not been able to buy any chocolate unless its branded fairtrade or organic. It's the only way I've found to make sure I'm not supporting the child slavery that goes on there.
#24
I can also confirm that these are Thornton's too. However, if you're paranoid, Thornton's Factory Outlet shops (I went to the York branch) have Buy One Get One Free on their misshapes - so you get 2 x 200g for £1.99. Better value than the HB deal.

Yeah, I read about what happens in the Ivory Coast too, shocking, poor kids. That said, I filed that info at the back of my memory so I can still enjoy a wide variety of chocolate.

So 400g for £1.99 compared to 350g for 99p at home bargains - how is that better value?
#27
These really are Thorntons, but I bought them and just got the same few horrible ones (mostly those white chocolate truffles and the coffee creams). Not a pleasant experience.
#28
Ah sorry, misread £1.99 at HB!
#29
yes thorntons and also have been selling for about 2 years. You simply need to select which ones you want by looking at the contents of the bag. They are misshaped and older chocolate, so not in as good shape as the misshapes they sell at the shops, but you get to know the decent ones. Overdo it though and you get a bit sick of them. Mostly creams and toffee.
#30
Can someone tell Home Bargains to open a store near me please. Damn I'd love to get these I already buy the Roses & Quality Street mishapes but these are probably a bit better.
#31
They also do the cadbury roses rejects at ours (well labled up different).

it doesnt have to say it to be it.

Thortons chocolates are in disguise in several major retaliers. these ones from Home bargains are re packaged seconds, chocolates with bloom or cracked shells. you have no idea whats in the bag, call it pot luck

they ARE indeed thortons, i just scoffed a bag yesterday.

Cornwall, theres hardly any decent ''cheap'' shops, like HB. Its only when i visit friends up north i can go to one.
#34
Just to second some of the other comments, the Thorntons branded mis-shapes sold in Thorntons are slight seconds, these unbranded chocs sold in HB are more mis-shapen and you have to be careful what bag you choose as you can sometimes end up with only 2 types of chocolates in them. They are definitely Thorntons chocs though.

I chose well the time I bought a couple of packs, the one I ate was fine, my mum complained she only had 2 types of chocolate in the bag I gave her :D

Been keeping this secret for about a year because when there are none in stock it makes me sad.

I picked up a bag of these today but when I opened them I discovered that they are nearly all the correct shape. They'll be going back tomorrow.
#37
I also picked some of these up today. Not tried any because I don't know which is which, apart from the Lemon flavoured ones and Turkish Delight ones. Nice selection in them but I just don't what types they are and I'm not risking becoming ill by eating a coconut chocolate :|
#38
Mrjono

The coconut ones are rectangular and a bit prickly.

And how did you manage to get my favourites
#39
These are packaged in clear bags, you can easily see if they are damaged, or all the same variety. And if you know your Thornton's you can also tell what varieties are included :)

And I'm waiting for the mishaped Thornton's bars to come into stock again at HB.... now they are a real winner!
