This is essentially the same as the 3GB deals that have been posted on HUKD before, but this time its 12GB/12 Month SIM. I think this works out a bit more cost than 4x 3GB SIMs, but its more convenient having just one SIM.

I've cut mine down to Micro-SIM size, put it in an iPad and got a years worth of 3G browsing for £49 (or 12GB which-ever comes fist).

These work out much better than contract as there is no restriction on a per month basis - so one month you can use 1Gb, next month 4Gb if you so wish.

To clarify some of the questions in comments;

* Yes - It will allow tethering and can be used in phones, dongles, MiFi's and iPads.
* Yes - You can use it in an iPad - just buy a SIM Cutter from ebay - they are very reliable and perfect for deals such as this.
* It will last for 12 months from _first use_. You can then use _up to_ 12Gb of data across an up to 12 month period - its which ever comes first.
* It won't expire in non-active usage during its 12-month active period.

The 3 Month / 3 GB SIM is £8.69 at the moment on Amazon which works out at 2.90 Per Month.
This one is £3.75 per month, a difference of £10.20 per year.

Could be a good deal depending on your usage pattern (as OP said the 12GB lasts for a year), Mine is low so I will be sticking with the Amazon 3 Month deal.

i use the 3gb or 3 month data sim on 3 too, fyi do you know you can get them off the bay about £7 which would bring your over all cost down.

Tis true there are some cheap deals on ebay - but you take your chances there sometimes - plus amazon have a good customer service and proper VAT receipts for those of us able to claim some VAT :-)

as above cheaper to 3month/3gb for £7

Would prefer to get 3gb x 4. That way after I use the first, I can decide whether or not I want to use the next straight away or not.

Thanks for the info longbowassassin. I have bought a couple from eBay but the bid price quite often goes above the Amazon price (if only they knew). I tend to keep a couple in stock and keep an eye on eBay for a bargain.

Have you got a link to the times offer as I can't find any info on the Three website.

voted cold, because I have been buying the 3 month/3GB version from various ebay sellers for between £5.99 and £6.99 inc delivery.

You also get 3 months subscription to the times website with each sim.

Can anyone recommend a cheap dongle to go with this? Thanks
#11
if you are cutting down to micro sim the 4x 3GB is probably the better option. If you accidentally cut through it or damage it in any way, that's £45 down the drain :p
(not sure if you can get a replacement with pre-paid these days)

The cheapest three dongles seem to start around £18 but may be worth trying the three midi. About £50 but i am using it for a iPod touch, laptop, and game consoles.

I have a few £10 if any good for you?

I use 15Gb a month on my mobile broadband.
#16
I'm on 3 paying £10 a month for 15GB.

I'm not using that much data, around 3GB would be enough, how much would that be at the moment?

So what happens after you use the 12gb up,
Can you top up again for £45 and get 12gb for the year??
Or will it revert back down to the lower usage amounts of 3gb
#22
Does the sim cease after 3 months even if you haven't use the 3gb?

can it be used for iPad?
Yes and no.

If you wanted to use this SIM in an iPad you would need to cut it down to make it the same size as a micro-sim. Thanks for making things difficult Jobs.

However, I use a MiFi device from 3 which this SIM would happily fit in and allow an iPad (and four other devices) to connect to the internet. My deal from 3 is on the "Sim Zero" tarrif which gives me 2gb of data for £5 a month which I find is more than enough for the my iPad use away from wireless.

You can ring up Three and ask them to send you a Micro-Sim for free. Once you receive the new Micro-Sim simply ring them up again and register it.

Yes, some more info on The Times subscription offer would be good please, I have a 3GB/3mnth SIM that I still have 1.5months left on - having The Times subscription until then would be handy...

Yes, 12 months as per the OP, or 3 months for the other sims being discussed in the thread.

I am new to mobile broadband.
I was wondering if this will allow me to use my wifi enabled laptop anywhere, when I am on the road.
If yes, what else do I need in terms of software and hardware?
Also, what is the average speed we can expect from this - say in and around big cities like Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester?

Thansk in advance

will it allows tethering...or use as a modem, anyone?

Tmobile just stopped tethering/modem use for normal 3G sims...
#34
As above will it allow tethering to a PC, if so I might end my landline and broadband deal.

The SIM will work for 12 months - not 3 months like the other one. So you use either 12Gb as quickly as you choose, or if you don't use all the 12Gb it will continue working for up to 12months from its first usage date.

The SIM becomes active after first use - it is then valid for 12 months. If you then don't use it for six months it will still be active when you return to use it - but it will always ever only ever last 12 months from first use.

Would vote hot as I paid £99 for the preloaded 12Gb with dongle BUT I now get 1GB preloaded SIMS off ebay for about £1.50 approx each. So I could order 12 of them for a considerable saving (but depends if they're available of course)

Edit- I see the 1GB are now about £2.90 each on Ebay......

Seems a pretty good price for the data, makes more sense to buy something like this than sign up for a contract IMO

Hi guys
I have 3(ZTE MF112 ) dongle.
Do I need to unlock it to be able to use any sim card from ebay?
