Sounds like a bargain to me... I funking hate 18 month contracts but all that for £15 a month is well worth it.

Waiting for all the "three are rubbish" crowd to come along but I haven't had too many problems with them and for the price you can handle any minor gripes....

good deal,
unlimited facebook
unlimited skype
unlimited txts
unlimited email and a modem to link to a laptop with, 1 gb browse limit heat added
#3
there is always someone somewhere who has had some problem with any of the available networks, and some that have had no problems.

I think the unlimited SMS are limited in that there is a fair usage policy of about 3000 a month or something. Its a pretty clever handset if you're big into your facebooking.. doesnt look too good but it feels ok in the hand.
#4
So can we use all of the above vouchers op listed, also would this work via Quidco, Anyone:?
So how much internet usage on PAYG £5pm?

But 3000 a month is more than enough (in fact HUGE!) for most people - also if you know people on Skype you can IM them for free, which is like texting and also email/IM via Facebook and Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo etc etc, or use preffered web based email.

I got £32.50 for this phone and deal from Quidco.

It's not a bad phone, just not a great one. As it's costing me a lot less every month than my Blackberry was on O2 I'm happy to have a cheaper phone. The Skype is great and saves me a real fortune! Also the My3 website works well, little things are important, I'll resist going into a rant about other networks :)

Seems like a good deal for me - especially if most of your friends and family are on 3 - dont forget unlimited means 3000 texts and 3000 3to3 mins - voted hot

can this sim phone be sold and sim used on other phone say iphone or HTC?

I would say yes (as long as you are using 3g enabled phones)
#10
I take it the SIM can now be used in a iPhone 3G? Would be pretty much ideal!
#11
Ok just checked with online chat and it seems that you can also use this as a modem on your laptop and is included in the unlimited internet - also todays £20 accesory code is HS08010902 - dont forget £32.50 quidco and £30 RAF

I have recently moved to three and thought of sharing somethings with anyone looking to move to three.

--Good--
-The signal is excellent when outside the home, I primarily use it in London
-Internet super fast on my E71 nokia
-Skype works perfect for both incoming calls and even skypeout calls (remember, skypeout doesn't work for UK numbers though)
-Planet3 is excellent, where you can instantly see how many minutes you have left etc (most other networks are 2 days behind when you check your mins, so if you want to check how many left as of now its not possible, this has become very important to me after i once got bitten for about £200 monthly bill)
-3-to3 calls unlimited on my contract, which means calling my wife's phone is totally free
-The three email is excellent, i configured 3 webmails on it and any new mails gets pushed to my handset, this is included in the £5 per month internet package

--Bad--
-The signal is *super ***** inside buildings, which means none of the above features will work when you are inside your home (this is true with most houses I visit, i checked it at a few friends houses)
-The phone is just a paperweight when I am inside any building, people who call me have got really annoyed and everyone of them asked me If I had a problem with my phone as its constantly unrecheable
-Atleast no one can call me when I am home, not sure whether this is good or bad!

I hope this will help someone out there trying to get a new three phone.
I was with O2 and Orange before three and never had signal issue with both of them, but three cannot be beaten on value, ecspecially on internet/skype features!

Please feel free to copy this review to any website you like.

Cheers.

I signed up for 3 when the £9 tariff was advertised here. I also signed up for the unlimited internet. Very impressed so far, The 3 mail app supports imap, pop, gmail, hotmail, etc and appears to push mail to the handset.

If you can specify the number of someone who has a three contract both you and they get £30 after 2 months which is almost as good as quidco.

Whilst you are officially not supposed to use your phone as a modem on the unlimited net add-on, I can and have used it without incurring any additional costs.

There is no way to track your net usage! This is daft, you get a txt after you have used 80% of the 1gb the f..u.p allows you, *unlimited" lol :D.

Skype works great! The skype software simply contacts 3 servers who phone you and then convert your standard phone call into a voip call on their end, so it works perfectly, better than on some high powered windows mobile phones. Additionally you can force close the skype app and still recieve skype calls for several hours as the server doesnt sign you out.

is it unlimited internet or capped at 1gb? 1 gb will last a long time when surfing via a mobile, but not via a laptop
#16
well any operator could block a non operator approved phone from accessing internet easily if they wanted.

And 3000 is a lot I agree - but I was just pointing out the absurd use of the word unlimited.

Cant you do that via My3 online or on the handset?
#18
Oh, perhaps people would consider switching to the £9 tariff + £5 internet for a grand saving of £18 over the term of the contract. This gives you 100 minutes or texts which seems like a weaker deal except in my case I can contact 90% of my friends via msn or email so texts are relatively redundant.

Plus there are various free sms internet portals out there however i've had mixed luck so far.

Finally I've been looking into the skype out options for 3 phones. It seems you can use skype out credits on your phone by using another copy of skype on a pc acting as a gateway althouugh this is a little technical (you install skype and the gateway, message the home pc and then place a call to the pc which then uses it's skypeout credit to connect your call, i have no tested this as i have no credit currently).
#19
Yes my handset has a built in counter (i dont have the inq), but you need to remember to reset it on the first day of the monthly contract, no you cant see your usage via the my3 portal. There is a data usage section stating:
"Sorry, there is no data usage for this mobile"

3 customer services state that even they cant see my usage as they get access to a very similar interface.

Why does the section exist? presumably people not with an internet add-in can see their usage.

3 customer services has been relatively competent so far.

The only thing stopping me from going for this phone is the fact that I read on stuff.tv that 3 are working on a QWERTY version of this phone. I'm gonna hold fire for a little while to see what develops. Never really dealt with 3 before but they are certainly the carrier doing the most interesting things at the moment.

Skpyeout works from within the handset without any pc mate, atleast it does on my E71, I just press 'options->SkypeOut' and then enter the number. I use this everyday to call USA.

Yes, I read that somewhere too! But my impatience led me to buy this one already :)

Didn't realise I could use the 1GB internet allowance when using it as a modem too, not a lot but still pretty good.

They block Skypeout calls to UK numbers. Think it would dent their core business slightly. The use of a PC for routing gets around this. I'd just use the free minutes to call UK number myself!
#24
There isn't even a skype-out option in their java app.

If you are waiting for the next version of the inq apparantly it will have qwerty and gps:

"Speaking at the iNQ One unveiling this morning, Three’s UK CEO, Kevin Russell confirmed that the next model would pack a full, BlackBerry busting keypad to tap out all those emails and IMs you get for free. “You’ll see it in 2009,” he said.

Russell couldn’t confirm what other features the Facebook ‘fone Mark II might add, but INQ’s CEO Frank Meehan let slip that GPS would be added to the software, “definitely next year”."

Doubt it will be free on a £15 contract tho.

The INQ does have Skypeout, I use it to call land lines in Europe and the US. Works with no problems and the cost comes off my Skype credit.
#26
Yeah I'm a dumbass, my java app does too :D, sorry!

Well the gateway info is still relevent for calls within the UK which is why I was personally interested in skypeout in the first place (free calls to landline package).

Is signal still a problem? Indoors seems to be mentioned as non-existant.

obviously depends on where you are in the country, but other's experience welcome - no rants though!

Well, in my house I get no O2 signal. Three works well until I get a couple of miles from home (middle of nowhere) and I lose the 3G network. I think Three uses Orange as a roaming partner in the UK, so when the Three signal gets lost it switches you to Orange, but you don't get the internet and email etc then, just calls and text.

Someone please jump in and correct me if I'm wrong!

I got this phone for my son for christmas and we have three different 3 handsets in this house and haven't had any problems in the last 2 years and we live in a village in West Wales.!

I Travel all over Wales with my job and signal quality has been good even in some of the more rural area in fact no worse than Orange or voda but better than o2 and T mobile.

We can't get 3G in the village only when we get to town but it does piggyback off of Orange so signal quality has not been a problem, in fact it has got better since 3 dropped O2.
My son (14) loves this phone for the unlimited (3000) texts and using it for unlimited facebook and Msn is worth the £15 alone.
However you do NOT get free unlimited 3 to 3 calls with this tariff, or so we were told in the 3 shop.

Hope this helps anyone.
#30
The signal is ok, i havent been in a position yet where I couldnt place a call. But it does fluctuate more than I would expect, ie fliping between 2 and 4 bars simply by holding it up in the air in my house.

Despite this the internet is pretty fast, certainly enough for mobile browsing, using speedtest.net I get 1350kb/s download and 245kb/s upload with 3 bars of reception (using the handset as a modem)

I have seen mixed information regarding internet access in 2g areas, however i think in general it doesnt work.

My only concerns with getting it were that 18 months is a long time, better phones will come along in that time (they always will) and that Three might be rubbish. Well Three have been great so far and 18 months isn't sooooo long. I love the '3 like home' thing and Skype on your handset is unbeatable.

Well sorry to hammer this thread with comments but regarding complaints about the 18 month duration, a 3 customer services rep told me that you can upgrade the handset 110 days before the completion of the contract.
#38
You normlly can upgrade the phone part way through an 18 month contract - don't know if this is the case with Three though

Yummy deal this but think the phone uses its own headphone socket connector. Just letting you guys all know so might be hard getting new or decent headhones/earphones.

Don't know if that's useful info?

HOT from me. Well done
