Interesting... any evidence to support this claim?

I can assure you, in no uncertain terms, that Haymarket Media Group is neither desperate or soon to be out of business. It is in fact one of the largest publishing companies in the world, their brands are market leaders, and are one of the few companies still recruiting in this current climate.
Maybe OP should get his facts straight before making comments.

I signed up for a similar offer last year and Haymarket have renewed it a few times at the same price so I have kept it going.

Not sure if they did this knowingly or if it is an error.

Just delete the direct debit from your internet banking as soon as it appears. You still get the three issues.

Thats what I did for the 3 copies of EVO and a free maglight :p

Dear God... Maybe I should get my facts straight, but as I doubt my post has such little relevance or importance to Haymarket or anyone else, who could care less what I write? I'm quite busy doing things that actually matter so I often make stray comments without thinking the facts through or really giving huge amounts of thought to it, and you know what, no one's died yet, so I'll probably continue in a similar fashion. Please feel free to ignore it or to get over it.

Cheers OP. Heat added.

Yet another prime example of the minority of people using this site, who are full of their own importance (your words, not mine!), and shoot anyone down who actually has anything constructive or corrective to add to a post. Well done, you must be so proud.

What, these words?:

I doubt my post has such little relevance or importance...

Yeah, I'm so up myself aren't I?

I'm not getting into a continued argument about such nonsense as you getting upset about a throwaway remark about nothing at all that matters to no one at all, so this will be my last post on this thread. I'm very sorry to have decided to share what I thought wasn't a bad deal. I shall think twice next time in case my words invoke such bizarre opposition to something or other again.

Yes, I'm sorry, I know; obviously Haymarket aren't going to go bump. My thinking - if there was any involved at all - when I made the OP was that magazines are slowly going the way of the dodo; it was the individual magazines I was joking about disappearing - or more likely migrating to completely online paid or free offerings if I actually do commit some thought to it. If I'd have know it would ruffle so many pedantic feathers I would have been more accurate - or just not said anything at all.

Such a drama over a throwaway comment! If it's any consolation engadget ran an article recently about why magazines will be obsolete in the near future so you're not alone.

Fight the Power, lol.

lol - no worries. Wasnt having a go. Just saying these deals have been around for a long long time.

Magazines will suffer but those like "T3 " that do digital editions will be fine. Most will follow suit - a lot already have! Personally I like the physical item to leaf through - and its better for the eyes!

I'm not sure about magazines going the way of the dodo. I work in the design industry, I've worked on a fair share of magazines and I've actually seen a slight renaissance in the last year or two despite the arrival of the iPad.

People still distinguish between print & screen and PDF, iPad or whatever Digital Delivery method are still very much thought of as screen. They can offer more interactivity and some iPad mags are stunning in presentation (animation, motion graphics, photos that become video seamlessley etc) but they can never sit on the shelf in Tesco tempting you toward them and they can't have some of the wonderful print finishes that some magazines employ (gold foils, spot varnish, physical 3d, cut outs, pop-ups, even glow in the dark!). Plus print mags don't require power, and that will be an issue for a while yet I think.

I think there is, and always will be room for print, the web and these new fangled methods. Cinema wasn't killed by TV, video didn't kill the radio (though it may have killed the radio star as The Buggles intimated) and the internet didn't kill newspapers - they all just had to adapt to accentuate the positives of their respective medium over the new kid on the block.

PS I'm not having a go Pokey, I know it was just a throwaway comment - or more appropriately a conversation starter!

PPS Heat added, good offer - got Stuff & 442 to see what they are upto these days!!
#32
great!! will order stuff now!!
#33
No worries guys I know you're not having a go.

I agree there will - and should - always be a place for the printed word in society. It has done very well for millennia and it can't be completely replaced by digital content. It's the demand, supply and sourcing of information I think will alter rather than that of printed media. I can distinguish in my preference between consumer reviews and news, which I would rather have on demand online and more readable investigative articles and obviously, books, which I would rather have physically. I'm sure magazines and newspapers will survive in some form but I wouldn't be surprised to see the market shrink and become more specialised. Obviously these are only my opinions.

Thank you so much, worked for me!
