why do nhs staff get a discount? even at the hospital restaurant they get subsidised meals and i know there are loads of other discounts like these. i dont have a problem with low paid staff getting these discounts but why do higher paid people also recieve these perks?
#3
Ad says also available to friends and family. Got to be good then if you know someone working for NHS.
#4
seems good if you have anhs contact or work there

My wife and I have been a nurses for years and we have never benefited from any decent discount. Tend to find local government workers and civil servants get many more perks. Never had a discounted meal any place I have worked.

I have registered at this NHS discounts website, but my job is nothing to do with the NHS. Since it's a friends and family offer, you can just give them your GP's name?!?!

You'll need to call 3 and explain your relation/friend is employed by the NHS. They'll ask for their ID number, and go from there

In my local hospital staff meals are subsidised. Its a large restaurant used by both stall and visitors and there are two price lists. Staff prices are substantially cheaper.

Because the NHS is the UKs largest employer and its staff make up a great potential market?

I used to get half price meals at the hospital where I started training at 17....wanted to make sure the youngsters were properly fed...then again I was on £9 a week:roll:

After 5/6 years of endless studying and medical school exams, followed by a mountain of unpaid student loans and debt, for the benfit of providing healthcare to the community - how dare hospitals provide doctors with discount -_-

It isn't just doctors who work in the NHS. And it is not only doctors who sacrifice a lot to get to their chosen profession.

Frankly if the NHS can negotiate a discount for their employees then good on them.

(Speaking as a doctor but not employed by the NHS).

because most people who work in the public sector are paid less than the equivalent worker in the private sector.

I dont work for the NHS, but im glad they have some kind of reward like this.

DO NOT BUY A CONTRACT ON 3. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.

If the handset/network is working fine then its good because you pay so little compared to other networks. But if there is any issue no matter how minor the customer service is appalling. Every call to them means a minimum of 30 minutes on the phone.

Because my friend, those of us on a 'minimal wage' with the NHS could do with a bit extra help... Remember the Non Registered Nursing staff make up a HUGE percentage of the NHS.

i've a friend who works there. how'd i redeem it, and will it work with 6 month contract ?

Yeah that is it exactly, without the NHS id number you shouldn't be able to get it

A few of my friends have used this no problem

I used to work for NHS but left about 7 years ago... Just about the time these discounts started to appear! :x

There were offers - we got a gold card for restaurants and so on, but they were all miles away... About time some decent offers were made available to NHS staff so well done OP!

3 is a piece of steaming, fly ridden crap

One of the worst in terms of network coverage - I can't get any bars whatsoever at home, which is an obvious concern as people can't contact you.

Go with 02 or Orange - even with a tempting offer, you don't want a contract with 3. £25 a month for 12 months, unlimited texts and 800 mins with a free Nokia 6500 slide got the better of me once, but never again!

i'm in Yorkshire, and neve had a problem with reception.

the cs is $h1%«, but they're cheap

Three reception isnt as bad as people think. But customer service is shocking. Their agents will lie constantly, often arent able to do too much, read the script repeadtedly, basically just plain dumb. I would seriously recommend against 3 just because of their call centres. Other than that they aint that bad.
#33
3 is best network where I live.
#34
phoned 3, and according to the guy on the phone you can only get 1 25% discount per nhs id number.
#35
Can I be a friend of someone who works for the NHS on here? Im looking to go with three and I dont know anyone who works for the NHS.

If some one could possibly PM me their NHS number I would be a friend for life.

In terms of network coverage - 3 uses the orange network when the 3G one is unavailable.

Orange have LOUSY customer service and a year after hetting a phone that did not work "as it was a feature of the phone" they refunded me £30. I estimate it was about 60 hours of calls and time taken to visit orange shops.

When I complained to trading standards - Orange said it was the first they had heard from me.

I tried this discount already - but it was not available on the package I wanted.

Just quote the code NHS if its the same as last time and they will offer you the discount - remember the person you speak to on the phone gets paid commission for selling to you - so are unlikely to knock you back.

Really? That's strange. Myself, my family, and most of my friends are with Orange. Haven't ever heard a bad word about their customer services. I lost my phone, even without insurance, and it was replaced for a small charge (£20 for a brand new release phone) within 2 working days. Also, whenever I have a query with my bill, they'll either respond via message online within an hour or two, or put you through to a UK based call-centre.

Had a few problems, but Orange always were quick to resolve the problems. Three on the other hand, I actually had to get a small claims court onto them before they left me alone
