Beware 3 Aftersales is very bad

How very true, avoid them at all costs, my friend can't get a signal at home (used to be able to but they changed from using the 02 signal network) and since they changed no more signal where she lives. They refuse point blank to let her out of the contract even though she was within the 14 days quoted, all they do is read from a script and replace the moby (no use obviously) she's had advice left right and centre telling her she has the right to cancel, but will they let her, not on your life, the shop blames the head office and vice versa so she's stuck with 18 months of £20 per month that she can't use at home. She should have known better because I got stung too and she was actually with me when I was complaining in the shop, apparently their terms and conditions say that they can be changed whenever they feel fit without notice, this isn't anywere on the documents handed out in the shop only on line if you look closely enough. Wonderful people :x

It's getting off topic a bit now but is there a mobile phone company that has good customer service? I've heard lots of complaints about all of them.

This is a good deal.
#9
Good price if you're going to use that much but as the download speed is quite slow surely it would only be heavey downloaders that are interested. I use the 3gb service and don't come close to the download amount each month and that's with the laptop on most of the day, connected.

voda, virgin, o2 and t mobile are all ok

i believe o2 and voda, and virgin are all 100% UK call centre

orange and three are both terrible

Orange are the best by far IMO, had all networks on contract apart from '3' and have stuck with orange for the last 3 years due to the others disapointing CS. I also used to work selling phones and contracts and Orange were always one of the best. '3' are pretty shoddy to be fair.

Orange dont have customer service they just have robots !!! Beware if you buy from Orange - I bought a blackberry which turned out to be faulty, took it back next day to get refund and they refused saying they dont give refunds. Taking them to court with full backing of trading standards

they are also liars

Agree! Customer service is a joke. Sent 3 letters of complaint by recorded delivery and they ignored them all. One they have got you on contract they don't want to know,

My experience with orange is totally the opposite, poor customer service & very poor 3G download speeds.

avoid any mobile broadband service from 3.

they are the worst company I have ever dealt with. I recieved speeds of around 5% of the top speed. - they even told me to hold my laptop outside a window at one point to see if the signal would improve.

after browsing the net i realised I was not an isolated case, theres thousands of annoyed customers.

poor speeds, fault connection, poor after sales. long contracts = not worth the hassel

Good deal if you're like me and need broadband access on the road

Thats rather a sweeping statement as for everyone with poor coverage / speed there will be people, like me, with fantastic coverage on 3 mobile broadband and indeed on the places I visit I found it a lot better than o2.

Thats not me saying o2 is rubbish as there will be places its better than 3 however its all down to checking the places your going to visit as much as you can in advance.

But for me im a very happy user of 3 mobile broadband and have yet to find anywhere around the uk, i travel a lot with work, where it doesnt give me a good / reasonable service and id therefore recommend it as its generally a lot better priced than the other networks on top.
#17
Ive had the 3 broadband for a few months and use it mostly for when im out working at various places and overall it works fine and the speed is more than enough for browsing so i find it quite good myself :)

I do find the Customer service hard work though being Indian based and scripted like replies rather than a proper discussion if any problems occur that is based on dealings with them on previous phone contract i havent had any need to call about my 3 broadband though.

When i went to get my phone contract the guy at phones4you in lincoln actually told me that three was probably the best deal for me but i really should go for it because there customer care was so bad. He'd apparantly just finished getting his girlfriend off them, and had been having to spend a couple of hours a week on the phone to their customer care.

3 have changed their returns policy on mobile broadband to 14 days, so if you get poor reception where you live it shouldnt be the end of the world. as for aftersales, id just walk into your nearest 3 store. in my experience theyve been brilliant, even setting up my modem on mandriva for me.
#20
two more things that might be of interest to people:

3 are doing 6 month broad band contracts. this may only be available if taken at the same time as a 6 month phone contract, or it may be available separately as well, check in your local store.

if you go into the settings for your modem, create a new profile and use the APN:
three.co.uk
the speed of your connection will improve dramatically.

and the guy in phones4u probably got more bonus for selling you a different network than he would have for selling you mobile broadband on 3.....

Id always be wary with anything told me to by stores like phones4u, and get a second opinion in the network concerned own store.
#22
my three stick is fine no problems whatsoever.

i did this when the half price deal was on with the recommend a friend **** and everything, and pay £7.39 for 5gig and i never go over it.

fantastic deal IMO and get the huawei modem as it has a micro sd slot which is very very useful and its the only one with 8GBPS capability.

ive had mine to about 4 in certain areas but always very good to use. i do alot of signal testing so usethis while im driving about to stay intouch with the office

2 YEAR deal! Cold from my just on that.

what is the diffrence between the modems on offer? and what is the benefit of the micro sd slot?

Huwawei are a very good brand in the field, and the micro sd slot means you can buy a micro sd card to whack in there. I have a 2 gig card in mine so now my modem becomes a usb key as well.

the software is on the modem, so say your out and about and you find a pc , stick this in it, installs in minutes download what you want and store it on the modem and then go :)

I have the 3GB for £7.50 that was over a year ago, i must admit that i have NEVER got near to using it up, reason ..........it wont stay connected long enough:x it keeps dropping the signal :(

The 3G network use the motorway system to relay their system (or something like that) and i use mine 300 yards from the M8, when it goes it never seems to last long, Iplayer is a waste of time with it, spotify (great bit of software) keeps stopping, all in all it is for me a complete waste of space, you spend so much time trying to keep a connection.

They only offer large GB`s for small £`s because they know there is no chance of them ever getting used up ;-)
#29
If only they did that £7.50 for 5GB again, I am sure they would get many people signing up for them.
#30
great price. shame about the contract length.

I was thinking that up to the point where he said i was probably best off at that time sticking with my current provider! I think he was genuienly ****** off with three.
#32
Those with problems are turning there wireless off right?
#33
This would be a good deal (15GB) if it weren't such a long contract.

Alot can happen in 2 years...
#34
Seems a good deal for mobile broadband. I'm living in cloud such and such land so will wait for 40gb for £15 p/m on a 12mth contract.
#35
garbage456
15 meg? dont u mean 15 gig?

LOL
#36
you wont be getting 980mbps from this i'm afraid
#37
Please note :-

(regardless of CS issues that many have mentioned) .... remember that 3 Mobile Broadband coverage is NOT the same as using a 3 mobile phone. Unlike using a 3 mobile phone which defaults to their 2G partner network (when you are out of the 3 network coverage) there is currently no such agreement for 3 mobile Broadband coverage.

This means - if you are out of 3 mobile area you will NOT get any 3 mobile Broadband service !!

Hope that helps ....
