At the outset of this popular 1980s cartoon series, a planet (known as Thundera) in a far, far away universe is in trouble. Thundera's inhabitants are facing extinction due to the planet's structural instability and looming disintegration. While the planet's offspring (the Thundercats) are able to escape in one piece, their spacecraft is not so lucky. It's wrecked by evil mutants, and then it is up to Jaga, the group's eldest member, to risk his own life to ensure the safe arrival of the Thundercats in their new home--Third Earth

All 130 episodes from the classic animated series. During the first season, the world of Thundera is in crisis. The planet's structure has become unstable and is near collapse. With their destruction imminent, Thundera's denizens, known as the Thundercats, escape in a spaceship and plot a course for a new home. While in transit, the Thundercats are attacked by evil mutants and their craft is irreparably damaged. Jaga, the eldest Thundercat, sacrifices himself in order to pilot the ship safely to its destination: Third Earth. In the second season, when a recurring vision torments leader Lion-O, the Thundercats realise that three more Thunderians must have survived the destruction of Thundera. A daring rescue mission pits the Thundercats against the villainous Mumm-Ra, who has strengthened his forces of mutants and broadened the range of his dark territories. Ultimately Lion-O saves the new Thunderians, but the cost is high: Mumm-Ra becomes even more powerful and more determined to destroy the Thundercats.

Who buys them? Do kids watch it anymore? I remember watching it in the eighties but I'm 34 now. I have my old liono and the bad guy still and also and optimus prime and megatron but they are displayed now rather than toys.

Amazing.

I hope people are aware that Lion O was a gay icon, and that the sword of omens was a phallic euphemism.

Were you one of his fans?

Second series is $hite beyond $hite!

Yeah, Vultureman stealing the intergalactic bookmobile isn't exactly award-winning. Sometimes I wonder about my memories, and unfortunately Thundercats left me thinking I must have been the right age for it at the time.

Unlike Thundarr the Barbarian, which is just as good as it ever was.

Thundercats are go!

This is definately one of those that was good at the time, but really doesn't stand the test of time in my opinion. Can't beleive there was so many episodes.

Who was the female cat with large bosoms and no discernible nipples? Panthera? (or am i confusing with curly perm rock/thrash metal band?).

Either way, fancying a cartoon character is bad enough, but a cartoon cat/mutant is something i'd rather forget.

:)

lol, nice one
i recently watched the first series curiosity of lovefilm of course, and i noticed that everything was the this of that for example the river of despair, the sword of omens, it really began to annoy me
and the fact that lion should have just killed them all would have made the program much easier to watch

Good price.

Shame the audio track is only stereo though

According to reviews, it's mono, the same as broadcast, and the transfer is about as good as a vhs. So it'll look and sound just like it did when you saw it on Going Live in 1989 :P

My bad, I meant to say mono.

I've got the first season and its quite disappointing. Its not quite as bad as vhs though.

The most amazing, magnificent series, intelligent series to have graced children for the entire course of human history.

This is probably the only big name series which has not been defacated on by new iterations throughout the years. (Although there is a movie coming out next year, luckily plans for a new thundercats cartoon was squashed).

Then again there are various comic book series from the embarassingly ridiculous comic publisher image comics, that renders the thundercats lineage ashamed forever.

Anyhow, i pity kids these days, they shall never know what it was like running home from school for an episode of thundercats, ninja turtles, bionic six and silverhawks every wednesday during the 2 hour kids midweek special. *sigh*

Oh no sir, these days it's all about teaching your son the pleasures of stabbing prostitutes in grand theft auto and training your under 10 year old daughters that like bratz, they can be just as moody and b*tchy as the teenage sluts they are going to grow up to be.

You know why parents these days are teaching their kids that? Because they watched too much frickin television when they were kids :giggle:

GTA is rated mature you know. Bratz is a fair comment.

I'd be scared going in the Holt End now

I cancelled my order because I'm afraid that I'll watch it and these days it won't hold up and I'll just have spent 30 quid on 130 episodes of pish that I won't watch, like most of Transformers. They sure knew how to blow all the budget and creativity on just the intros in the 80s.
